It is a unique adventure that will take you through the history, culture and captivating landscapes of Azerbaijan and Georgia. This 9-day itinerary combines the best of both countries, starting in the vibrant city of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, and ending in the charming Tbilisi, the cultural heart of Georgia. From the mystical desert of Gobustan, home to millennia-old petroglyphs, to the majestic mountains of the Caucasus and medieval monasteries such as Alaverdi and Gergeti, this journey is designed to captivate both nature lovers and those passionate about history and architecture. Let yourself be amazed by the wonders of these magical lands! Your journey begins with a transfer to the modern city of Baku, where you will explore its contrasts between tradition and modernity. In the following days, you will discover the charm of Gobustan, the incredible Absheron National Park, and the ancient cities of Shamaki and Sheki. Crossing the border into Georgia, the wine-making charm of Kvareli and the alpine landscapes of Gudauri await you. One of the highlights will be the visit to the iconic church of Gergeti, surrounded by imposing peaks. The tour concludes with a guided visit to historic Tbilisi, where cobbled streets, medieval architecture and a vibrant urban life will leave you with unforgettable memories. This medieval palace complex, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, encompasses several buildings including the divan, the family mausoleum and the palace mosque, all built in the distinctive local limestone. The architecture of the ensemble fuses elements of the Shirvan-Absheron style with Persian and Islamic influences, standing out for its intricate portals and delicate ornamental carvings. During our visit, we will explore the palace's many chambers, admire the panoramic views of Baku Bay from its terraces, and immerse ourselves in the fascinating history of the Shirvanshahs through their ceremonial halls and archaeological exhibits. Yanardag - Historic, Cultural and Natural State ReserveYanardag, an impressive fire mountain located 27 kilometres from Baku in Azerbaijan, represents an extraordinary natural phenomenon where natural flames continuously emerge from a porous sandstone hillside. This eternal fire, burning uninterruptedly thanks to natural gas seepage, has been a source of fascination for centuries and was one of the reasons why ancient Zoroastrians considered Azerbaijan a sacred land. The Historic, Cultural and Natural State Reserve protects this spectacular phenomenon, which reaches up to 3 metres in height, standing as a living testament to why Azerbaijan is known as the "Land of Fire". During our visit, we will stand in awe watching the dancing flames against the night sky, listen to the soft hiss of gas rising from the ground, and feel the mystical warmth of this perpetual fire that has captivated travellers and pilgrims for generations. Yashil Bazar

Yashil BazarThe Yashil Bazar, also known as the Green Market, is one of the most vibrant and authentic traditional markets in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. Located in the heart of the city, this bustling covered market has been for generations the epicentre of local trade in fresh produce. Its aisles are filled with a dazzling variety of fruits, vegetables, aromatic spices, fresh herbs, dried fruits and the famous Azerbaijani pickles, all presented in the characteristic Caucasus style. The Soviet-era architecture of the building contrasts with the warmth and colour of the traditional stalls, where vendors keep centuries-old trading traditions alive. During our tour, we will immerse ourselves in a sensory feast of aromas and flavours, taste the delicious qurut (dried yoghurt), interact with the friendly local vendors and discover the secrets of Azerbaijan's rich gastronomy as we explore the lively aisles of this historic market. Mud VolcanoesThe mud volcanoes of Azerbaijan represent one of the most fascinating geological phenomena in the Caucasus, located mainly on the Abşeron Peninsula and the coastal regions of the Caspian Sea. These extraordinary natural features, accounting for nearly half of the world's mud volcanoes, have witnessed the region's rich geological history for thousands of years. The lunar landscape created by more than 400 active volcanoes presents a unique spectacle where bubbling mud emerges from the depths of the earth, forming cones and small eruptions that have fascinated scientists and visitors alike for generations. During our exploration, we will marvel at the spectacle of cold mud geysers spurting from the earth, experience the healing properties of these mineral muds, and walk along paths winding between volcanic cones, capturing unique photographs of this extraterrestrial landscape so characteristic of Azerbaijan. Albanian Church of Kish

Albanian Church of Kish The Albanian Church of Kish, situated in the picturesque village of Kish near Sheki, Azerbaijan, is an ancient Christian temple dating from the 1st century. Considered the oldest church in the Caucasus, it was an important spiritual centre of the Caucasian Albanian kingdom. Its architecture combines local and Byzantine influences, and its mountain setting enhances its historical atmosphere. Today it functions as a museum, noted for its archaeological excavations and unique religious history. During our visit we will explore its restored interiors, learn about the ancient civilisations that built it, and enjoy the serenity of the picturesque village surrounding it. Khareba Tunnel Winery

Khareba Tunnel Winery Nestled in the heart of the Kakheti region, the Khareba Winery stands out for its extraordinary tunnel system carved into the Caucasian mountain, extending more than 7.7 kilometres at a depth of 60 metres. Originally built during the Soviet era, this underground labyrinth maintains a constant natural temperature of 12–14°C, creating ideal conditions for wine ageing. The winery combines traditional Georgian winemaking methods in qvevri with modern technology, producing exceptional wines from indigenous grape varieties such as Saperavi and Rkatsiteli. During our visit, we will walk the mysterious tunnels by torchlight, learn about Georgia's 8,000 years of winemaking history and taste a select range of wines while savouring the local cuisine. Alaverdi Monastery

Alaverdi Monastery Alaverdi Monastery, situated in the Kakheti region of Georgia, is an impressive cathedral dating from the 6th century. This historic site was founded by the monk Joseph of Alaverdi and, in the 11th century, became one of the tallest churches in Georgia with its magnificent dome. Surrounded by vineyards, the monastery is also famous for its winemaking tradition, which deeply connects it to the culture of the region. During our visit we will explore the majestic cathedral, learn about its rich history and enjoy the beauty of the vineyards surrounding this emblematic place in Kakheti. Ananuri

Ananuri Ananuri, an impressive medieval fortress located 66 kilometres from Tbilisi, rises majestically above the Zhinvali Reservoir on the historic Georgian Military Highway. This 13th-century architectural complex, which served as the seat of the eristavis (dukes) of Aragvi, combines defensive elements with extraordinary examples of Georgian religious architecture, highlighted by its main church featuring intricate stone reliefs and well-preserved frescoes. During our visit, we will explore the fortified towers, admire the panoramic views of the turquoise reservoir and discover the secrets of Georgian medieval architecture as we stroll through its ancient cobblestone courtyards.  

Gergeti Trinity Church

Gergeti Trinity Church The Gergeti Trinity Church stands majestically at 2,170 metres altitude in the shadow of Mount Kazbegi (5,047 m). This iconic 14th-century temple, situated in the historic region of Khevi, represents one of Georgia's most recognisable symbols, distinguished by its remote location and traditional Georgian architecture set against the backdrop of the snow-capped Caucasus mountains. During our excursion, we will ascend by 4x4 along the winding mountain track, explore the ancient monastic complex and take in panoramic views of the surrounding glaciers and peaks.  

Day 7 - Gudauri - Uplistsikhe - Gori - Tbilisi

Uplistsikhe

Uplistsikhe Located in the Kartli region of central Georgia, Uplistsikhe is an ancient rock-hewn cave city dating from the first millennium BC. This extraordinary archaeological complex, considered one of the oldest settlements in the Caucasus, was an important religious and commercial centre on the historic Silk Road. Its architectural structures include pagan temples, Christian basilicas and civic buildings that reflect the unique fusion of Christian and pagan styles. The city is notable for its street system, secret tunnels and an exceptionally well-preserved Roman theatre. During our visit we will explore the ancient wine cellars, walk through streets carved in stone and marvel at the panoramic views of the Mtkvari River from the top of this natural acropolis, travelling through more than 3,000 years of Caucasian history.  

Stalin Museum

Stalin Museum The Stalin Museum in Gori, birthplace of the controversial Soviet leader, is one of the last museums in the world dedicated to Josef Stalin. The complex includes the original birthplace, a Soviet-style palatial building and Stalin's personal railway carriage. The exhibition houses an extensive collection of personal items, photographs, historical documents and Stalin's original death mask. During our visit, we will explore the halls that document Stalin's life from his youth in Georgia to his Soviet leadership, examine his luxurious armoured railway carriage and reflect on the complex historical legacy he left in the region.  

Day 8 - Tbilisi - Guided Tour in English

Rustaveli Avenue

Rustaveli Avenue Rustaveli Avenue, the main artery of Tbilisi, stretches 1.5 kilometres from Freedom Square to Republic Square. This emblematic street, named after the medieval poet Shota Rustaveli, houses the city's most prestigious buildings, including the Parliament of Georgia, the Opera Theatre and the National Museum, all built in neoclassical and Art Nouveau style during the 19th century. During our stroll, we will enjoy the vibrant Georgian cultural life, stop at its elegant historic cafés and admire the monumental architecture as we explore the many shops and art galleries.  

Metekhi Square

Metekhi Square Metekhi Square, one of the most emblematic historic places in Tbilisi, stands on a cliff with privileged views of the Mtkvari River. This landmark is dominated by the 13th-century church and the equestrian statue of King Vakhtang Gorgasali, the legendary founder of the city. The square was for centuries home to the royal palace, consolidating its role as a strategic and cultural centre. Although the original church was built in the 5th century, the structure we can admire today is a 13th-century reconstruction. During our tour, we will delight in the impressive panoramic views of the old town and the famous bathhouse district. We will also explore the Metekhi church and immerse ourselves in the fascinating history of the king who, with his vision, established Tbilisi as the capital of Georgia, forging one of the most representative places of Georgian heritage.  

Narikala Fortress

Narikala Fortress Narikala Fortress, an iconic symbol of Tbilisi, has dominated the city's skyline since the 4th century. This ancient citadel, originally Persian and later expanded by Arabs and Georgians, rises on a steep hill overlooking the Mtkvari River and the old town. Its imposing walls and towers have witnessed the many civilisations that have ruled Georgia, including the reconstructed Church of St Nicholas from the 12th century. During our visit, we will ride the cable car up to the fortress, walk along its ancient defensive walls and capture breathtaking panoramic views of Tbilisi as the sun sets over the city.  

Abanotubani

Abanotubani Abanotubani, the historic sulphurous bathhouse district in the heart of old Tbilisi, represents the original core where the Georgian capital was founded. Located on the right bank of the Mtkvari River, this neighbourhood is famous for its characteristic sulphur baths with brick domes rising from the ground, witnesses to more than 1,500 years of history. The natural thermal waters that spring from the earth's depths maintain a constant temperature of 37–40°C, and their healing properties have attracted illustrious visitors such as Alexander Pushkin and Alexandre Dumas. During our visit, we will wander through the streets of legendary thermal waters and get lost in the picturesque medieval alleyways winding between the baths, breathing in the most authentic essence of ancient Tbilisi.  

Anchiskhati

Anchiskhati The Anchiskhati Basilica, the oldest church in Tbilisi, represents a vital testimony to Georgia's Christian history since the 6th century. Located in the heart of the old town, this sandstone church, dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, takes its name from the miraculous icon of Christ (Anchiskhati) it sheltered for centuries. Its three-nave basilical architecture, typically Georgian, is complemented by medieval frescoes and a 17th-century bell tower. During our exploration, we will soak in the mystical atmosphere of the temple, listen to the ancient Georgian polyphonic chants that still resonate within its walls and admire the craftsmanship of its traditional icons.
