Rustaveli Avenue

Avenida Rustaveli Rustaveli Avenue, the main artery of Tbilisi, stretches 1.5 kilometres from Freedom Square to Republic Square. This iconic boulevard, named after the medieval poet Shota Rustaveli, is home to the city's most prestigious buildings, including the Parliament of Georgia, the Opera Theatre and the National Museum, all built in neoclassical and Art Nouveau styles during the 19th century. During our stroll we'll soak up the vibrant Georgian cultural scene, stop at elegant historic cafés and admire the monumental architecture as we explore the many shops and art galleries.

Metekhi Square

Plaza de Metekhi Metekhi Square, one of the most emblematic historic spots in Tbilisi, sits on a cliff with sweeping views of the Mtkvari river. The square is dominated by the 13th-century church and the equestrian statue of King Vakhtang Gorgasali, the legendary founder of the city. For centuries it was the site of the royal palace, cementing its role as a strategic and cultural hub. Although the original church dates to the 5th century, the structure standing today is a 13th-century reconstruction. During our visit we'll delight in the sweeping panoramic views of the Old Town and the famous bathhouse district, explore the Metekhi Church and discover the fascinating story of the king who made Tbilisi the capital of Georgia.

Narikala Fortress

Fortaleza Narikala Narikala Fortress, the iconic symbol of Tbilisi, has dominated the city skyline since the 4th century. This ancient citadel, originally Persian and later expanded by Arabs and Georgians, rises on a steep hill overlooking the Mtkvari river and the Old Town. Its imposing walls and towers have witnessed the many civilisations that ruled Georgia, including the reconstructed St Nicholas Church from the 12th century. During our visit we'll ride the cable car up to the fortress, walk the ancient defensive walls and catch stunning panoramic views of Tbilisi as the sun sets over the city.

Abanotubani

Abanotubani Abanotubani, the historic sulphur bathhouse district at the heart of old Tbilisi, is the very spot where the Georgian capital was founded. Located on the right bank of the Mtkvari, this neighbourhood is famed for its distinctive sulphur baths topped with brick domes that rise from the ground, witnesses to more than 1,500 years of history. The natural thermal waters that bubble up from the earth maintain a constant temperature of 37-40°C, and their curative properties have attracted illustrious visitors including Alexander Pushkin and Alexandre Dumas. During our visit we'll wander through the streets of legendary thermal waters and lose ourselves in the picturesque medieval alleyways that wind between the baths, breathing in the most authentic essence of ancient Tbilisi.  

Anchiskhati

Anchiskhati Anchiskhati Basilica, the oldest church in Tbilisi, stands as a vital testament to Georgia's Christian history since the 6th century. Located in the heart of the Old Town, this sandstone church dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary takes its name from the miraculous icon of Christ (Anchiskhati) it housed for centuries. Its typically Georgian three-nave basilica architecture is complemented by medieval frescoes and a 17th-century bell tower. During our exploration we'll soak up the mystical atmosphere of the temple, listen to ancient Georgian polyphonic chants that still resonate within its walls and admire the craftsmanship of its traditional icons.

Alaverdi Monastery

Monasterio de Alaverdi Alaverdi Monastery, located in the Kakheti region of Georgia, is a magnificent cathedral dating from the 6th century. Founded by the monk Joseph of Alaverdi, it became one of the tallest churches in Georgia in the 11th century thanks to its grand dome. Surrounded by vineyards, the monastery is also renowned for its winemaking tradition, deeply connecting it to the culture of the region. Nekresi Monastery

Monasterio de Nekresi Nekresi Monastery, located in the Kakheti region of Georgia, is an ancient monastic complex founded in the 4th century, making it one of the oldest Christian centres in the country. Perched on a hill overlooking the Alazani valley, Nekresi is noted for its small early Christian church, its rich history and its stunning natural surroundings. This monastery has served as an important spiritual and cultural refuge throughout the centuries. During our visit we'll walk through its historic chapels, enjoy panoramic views of the valley and immerse ourselves in the tranquillity and history that surround this sacred place. Khareba Winery Tunnel

Bodega Khareba en tunel Nestled in the heart of the Kakheti region, Khareba Winery stands out for its extraordinary system of tunnels carved into the Caucasian mountain, stretching more than 7.7 kilometres at a depth of 60 metres. Originally built during the Soviet era, this underground labyrinth maintains a natural constant temperature of 12-14°C, creating ideal conditions for wine ageing. The winery combines traditional Georgian vinification methods in qvevri with modern technology, producing exceptional wines from native grape varieties such as Saperavi and Rkatsiteli. During our visit we'll explore the mysterious tunnels by torchlight, learn about Georgia's 8,000-year-old winemaking history and taste a selection of wines while enjoying the local cuisine. Signaghi

Signagui Signaghi, known as the "City of Love", is a picturesque walled town in the wine-growing region of Kakheti, 790 metres above sea level. This 18th-century town, enclosed by a 4-kilometre wall with 23 towers, offers stunning views of the Alazani valley and the mountains of the Caucasus. It is known for its traditional Georgian architecture, cobblestone streets and carved wooden balconies. During our visit we'll stroll through its romantic lanes, taste the famous Kakheti wines at traditional wineries and watch the sunset over the valley from its ancient defensive walls.  

Bodbe Monastery

Monasterio de Bodbe Bodbe Monastery, in the Kakheti region, is one of Georgia's most important pilgrimage sites, housing the tomb of St Nino, the evangelist who brought Christianity to the country in the 4th century. This monastic complex, surrounded by centuries-old cypresses and lush gardens, blends architectural elements from the 9th and 17th centuries, featuring a three-nave basilica and traditional frescoes. During our visit we'll descend the sacred path to St Nino's miraculous spring, take in the views of the Alazani valley and experience the deep spirituality that permeates this holy place.  

Day 5 - Tbilisi - Ananuri - Kazbegi - Tbilisi

Ananuri

Ananuri Ananuri, an impressive medieval fortress 66 kilometres from Tbilisi, rises majestically above the Zhinvali Reservoir along the historic Georgian Military Highway. This 13th-century architectural complex, which served as the seat of the eristavi (dukes) of Aragvi, combines defensive elements with extraordinary examples of Georgian religious architecture, highlighted by its main church with intricate stone reliefs and well-preserved frescoes. During our visit we'll explore the fortified towers, admire the panoramic views of the turquoise reservoir and uncover the secrets of medieval Georgian architecture as we stroll through the ancient cobblestone courtyards.  

Gergeti Trinity Church

Trinidad de Gergeti Gergeti Trinity Church stands majestically at 2,170 metres in the shadow of Mount Kazbegi (5,047m). This iconic 14th-century temple in the historic Khevi region is one of Georgia's most recognisable symbols, celebrated for its remote location and traditional Georgian architecture set against a backdrop of snow-capped Caucasus peaks. During our excursion we'll drive up in a 4x4 along the winding mountain track, explore the ancient monastic complex and take in panoramic views of the surrounding glaciers and peaks.  

Day 6 - Tbilisi - Mtskheta - Uplistsikhe - Gori - Kutaisi

Jvari - Monastery of the Cross

Built in the 6th century on the top of a hill, this monastery offers breathtaking panoramic views of the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers. Considered a masterpiece of medieval Georgian architecture, it is a sacred place symbolising Georgia's adoption of Christianity. Svetitskhoveli

Uplistsikhe

Uplistsikhe Located in the Kartli region of central Georgia, Uplistsikhe is an ancient rock-hewn cave city dating from the first millennium BC. This extraordinary archaeological complex, considered one of the oldest settlements in the Caucasus, was an important religious and commercial centre along the historic Silk Road. Its architectural structures include pagan temples, Christian basilicas and civic buildings reflecting the unique fusion of Christian and pagan styles. The city is noted for its network of streets, secret tunnels and an exceptionally well-preserved Roman-style theatre. During our visit we'll explore the ancient wine cellars, walk through lanes carved in stone and marvel at the panoramic views of the Mtkvari river from the top of this natural acropolis, travelling back through more than 3,000 years of Caucasian history. Stalin Museum

Museo de Stalin The Stalin Museum in Gori, the birthplace of the controversial Soviet leader, is one of the last museums in the world dedicated to Josef Stalin. The complex includes the original birth house, a Soviet palace-style building and Stalin's personal railway carriage. The exhibition houses an extensive collection of personal items, photographs, historical documents and the dictator's original death mask. During our visit we'll tour the rooms documenting Stalin's life from his youth in Georgia to his Soviet leadership, examine his luxurious armoured railway carriage and reflect on the complex historical legacy he left in the region. Bagrati Cathedral

Built during the reign of King Bagrat III in the 11th century, this Orthodox church exemplifies the grandeur of the classic Georgian architectural style with its characteristic central dome and elaborate stone reliefs. Although partially restored in 2012, it retains its status as one of Georgia's most important monuments and was formerly a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Sataplia

Sataplia Located in the Imereti region of Georgia, Sataplia Nature Reserve is an extraordinary natural park combining geological and palaeontological wonders. This unique site takes its name from the Georgian word meaning "place of honey", due to the ancient wild bee colonies in its limestone caves. The park houses one of the world's most important collections of dinosaur footprints, preserved in Upper Cretaceous rock, alongside a spectacular karst cave system decorated with stalactites and stalagmites. Its glass-floored viewing platform offers unrivalled panoramic views of Kutaisi and the Caucasus mountains. During our adventure we'll follow the tracks of theropod dinosaurs, explore the mysterious illuminated caverns and marvel at the views from the observation platform that seems to float above the forest.

Prometheus Cave

La cueva de Prometeus Prometheus Cave, located near Kutaisi in Georgia, is one of the most impressive and extensive caves in the country, standing out as a major natural and tourist attraction. Discovered in 1984, this fascinating underground cavern offers a tour through vast halls adorned with stalactites, stalagmites and spectacular rock formations that, thanks to careful lighting, create a magical and immersive atmosphere. In addition to the well-marked trails that allow exploration of the stunning interior landscapes, visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a peaceful boat ride along the underground river that flows through the cave.
