This is a journey through Georgia that will take you through the most spectacular corners of this Caucasian country. Over 4 intense days, you will discover a perfect combination of millennia-old history, vibrant culture and breathtaking landscapes that make Georgia a truly unique destination. From the bustling city of Tbilisi to the peaceful hills of Sighnaghi, every stop on this itinerary has been carefully chosen to offer you an authentic and memorable experience. The route will transport you through ancient fortified towns, historic monasteries and legendary wine regions, as you immerse yourself in the rich Georgian tradition.

The journey begins in the Kakheti region, famous for its wines and monasteries, where you will visit gems such as Bodbe Monastery and the city of love, Sighnaghi. You will then head into the majestic mountains of the Caucasus, where the Gergeti Monastery will leave you breathless with its spectacular setting at the foot of Mount Kazbegi. The route will also lead you to discover the cave city of Uplistsikhe, one of Georgia's oldest, and will culminate in Kutaisi, where the impressive Gelati Monastery and the mysterious Prometheus Cave await. This itinerary perfectly combines cultural heritage, nature adventure and Georgia's rich gastronomy, promising an unforgettable experience in the heart of the Caucasus.

Itinerario

Day 1 - Tbilisi - Bodbe - Sighnaghi - Kvareli - Gremi - Telavi

Bodbe Monastery

Monasterio de Bodbe The Bodbe Monastery, located in the Kakheti region, is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Georgia, as it houses the tomb of Saint Nino, the evangeliser who brought Christianity to the country in the 4th century. This monastic complex, surrounded by centuries-old cypress trees and lush gardens, blends architectural elements from the 9th and 17th centuries, with a three-nave basilica and traditional frescoes as its highlights. During our visit, we will descend along the sacred path to Saint Nino's miraculous spring, take in the views of the Alazani valley and experience the deep spirituality that permeates this holy place. Sighnaghi

Signagui Sighnaghi, known as the "City of Love", is a picturesque walled town set in the wine-growing region of Kakheti, at 790 metres above sea level. This 18th-century town, enclosed by a 4-kilometre wall with 23 towers, offers stunning views of the Alazani valley and the Caucasus mountains. It is known for its traditional Georgian architecture, cobbled streets and carved wooden balconies. During our visit, we will stroll through its romantic lanes, taste the famous Kakheti wines at traditional wineries and watch the sunset over the valley from its ancient defensive walls. Khareba Tunnel Winery

Bodega Khareba en tunel Nestled in the heart of the Kakheti region, Khareba Winery is renowned for its extraordinary tunnel system carved into the Caucasian mountain, stretching over 7.7 kilometres at a depth of 60 metres. Originally built during the Soviet era, this underground labyrinth maintains a constant natural temperature of 12–14°C, creating ideal conditions for wine ageing. The winery combines traditional Georgian winemaking methods in qvevri with modern technology, producing exceptional wines from indigenous grapes such as Saperavi and Rkatsiteli. During our visit, we will walk through the mysterious tunnels by torchlight, learn about Georgia's 8,000 years of winemaking history and sample a curated selection of wines paired with local cuisine. Gremi

Gremi Gremi, located in the Kakheti region of Georgia, is a fascinating architectural complex that served as the capital of the Kingdom of Kakheti in the 16th century. This historic site houses the Church of the Archangels, a bell tower and ruins of the ancient city set against a mountainous landscape. Its strategic position and history as a major trading hub make it a symbol of Georgia's rich cultural heritage. During our visit we will explore the majestic church, enjoy panoramic views from the tower and discover the history of this iconic site in the heart of Kakheti. Drive 21 km, 0 hours and 22 minutes

Day 2 - Telavi - Ananuri - Gergeti - Gudauri

Ananuri

Ananuri Ananuri, a magnificent medieval fortress located 66 kilometres from Tbilisi, rises majestically above the Zhinvali Reservoir along the historic Georgian Military Highway. This 13th-century architectural complex, which served as the seat of the eristavis (dukes) of Aragvi, combines defensive elements with extraordinary examples of Georgian religious architecture, notably its main church with intricate stone reliefs and well-preserved frescoes. During our visit, we will explore the fortified towers, admire the panoramic views of the turquoise reservoir and uncover the secrets of medieval Georgian architecture as we stroll through its ancient cobbled courtyards.  

Gergeti Trinity Church

Trinidad de Gergeti The Gergeti Trinity Church stands majestically at 2,170 metres in the shadow of Mount Kazbegi (5,047 m). This iconic 14th-century church, set in the historic Khevi region, is one of Georgia's most recognisable symbols, celebrated for its remote location and traditional Georgian architecture against the backdrop of the snow-capped Caucasus mountains. During our excursion, we will ascend by 4x4 along the winding mountain track, explore the ancient monastic complex and take in panoramic views of the surrounding glaciers and peaks.  

Day 3 - Gudauri - Uplistsikhe - Gori - Kutaisi

Total driving distance - 335 km, 5 hours and 20 minutes After breakfast at the hotel, we set off on our adventure. The planned visits for the day are: Drive 167 km, 2 hours and 35 minutes

Uplistsikhe

Uplistsikhe Located in the Kartli region of central Georgia, Uplistsikhe is an ancient rock-hewn cave city dating back to the first millennium BC. This extraordinary archaeological complex, considered one of the oldest settlements in the Caucasus, was an important religious and commercial hub on the historic Silk Road. Its architectural structures include pagan temples, Christian basilicas and civic buildings that reflect the unique fusion of Christian and pagan styles. The city is notable for its street network, secret tunnels and an exceptionally well-preserved Roman-style theatre. During our visit we will explore the ancient wine cellars, walk through lanes carved in stone and marvel at the panoramic views of the Mtkvari river from atop this natural acropolis, travelling back through more than 3,000 years of Caucasian history.  

Stalin Museum

Museo de Stalin The Stalin Museum in Gori, the birthplace of the controversial Soviet leader, is one of the last museums dedicated to Josef Stalin in the world. The complex includes the original childhood home, a Soviet palace-style building and Stalin's personal railway carriage. The exhibition houses an extensive collection of personal objects, photographs, historical documents and the original death mask of the dictator. During our visit, we will explore the rooms documenting Stalin's life from his youth in Georgia to his Soviet leadership, examine his luxurious armoured railway carriage and reflect on the complex historical legacy he left in the region.  

Day 4 - Kutaisi - Bagrati - Gelati - Prometheus - Tbilisi

Bagrati Cathedral

Catedral de Bagrati Dominating the Kutaisi skyline from the Ukimerioni hill, the majestic Bagrati Cathedral is a masterpiece of medieval Georgian architecture and a symbol of the country's Golden Age. Built during the reign of King Bagrat III in the 11th century, this Orthodox church exemplifies the grandeur of classical Georgian architectural style with its characteristic central dome and elaborate stone reliefs. Although partially reconstructed in 2012, it retains its significance as one of Georgia's most important monuments and was part of the UNESCO World Heritage List. During our visit, we will take in the spectacular panoramic views of Kutaisi from its terraces, admire the architectural details that blend ancient and modern elements, and experience the serenity of this sacred space that has witnessed more than a thousand years of history. Gelati Academy

Academia de Gelati The Gelati Academy, located in western Georgia near Kutaisi, is one of the most significant cultural centres of the medieval Caucasus. This fortified monastery from the 12th century, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was an important centre of Georgian education and literature, where Christian and classical traditions converged. Its impressive frescoes, unique architecture and Royal Academy stand as testaments to the Georgian Golden Age. During our visit, we will explore the majestic stone buildings and admire the intricate frescoes adorning their walls, while soaking up the contemplative atmosphere that once inspired the greatest thinkers of the medieval Georgian kingdom. Prometheus Cave

La cueva de Prometeus Prometheus Cave, located near Kutaisi in Georgia, is one of the most impressive and extensive caves in the country, standing out as an important natural and tourist attraction. Discovered in 1984, this fascinating underground cavern offers a tour through vast halls adorned with stalactites, stalagmites and spectacular rock formations that, thanks to careful lighting, create a magical and enveloping atmosphere.
