This 9-day itinerary will take you from the modern, cosmopolitan Baku, with its striking contrasts between ancient and contemporary, to the majestic mountains and charming villages of Georgia. With every step, you will discover the magical allure of the Caucasus, a region where cultures, religions and traditions intertwine to offer an unforgettable experience. From the natural wonders of Gobustan to the picturesque vineyards of Kakheti, each day of this journey promises dreamy landscapes, cultural richness and unmatched hospitality. Your adventure begins in the vibrant capital of Azerbaijan: Baku, exploring its historic monuments and the singular landscape of Absheron. From there, you will be amazed by the petroglyphs and mud volcanoes of Gobustan. You will then travel to the charming mountain towns of Sheki and Telavi, immersing yourself in the local essence. In Georgia, you will visit the iconic monasteries of Alaverdi and Bodbe, and enjoy a guided tour in English through historic Tbilisi. Not to be missed is the epic route to Kazbegi, winding through breathtaking mountain scenery and visiting architectural treasures such as the Ananuri complex and the Gergeti church. Shirvanshah Palace

This medieval palace complex, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, encompasses several buildings including the divan, the family mausoleum and the palace mosque, all built in the distinctive local limestone. The architecture fuses elements of the Shirvan-Absheron style with Persian and Islamic influences, distinguished by its intricate portals and delicate ornamental carvings. During our visit, we will explore the palace's many chambers, admire panoramic views of Baku Bay from its terraces, and immerse ourselves in the fascinating history of the Shirvanshahs through its ceremonial halls and archaeological displays. Yanardag - Historic, Cultural and Natural State Reserve

Yanardag - Historic, Cultural and Natural State Reserve Yanardag, a stunning mountain of fire located 27 kilometres from Baku in Azerbaijan, represents an extraordinary natural phenomenon where natural flames continuously emerge from a slope of porous sandstone. This eternal fire, which burns uninterruptedly thanks to natural gas seepages, has fascinated people for centuries and was one of the reasons ancient Zoroastrians considered Azerbaijan a sacred land. The Historic, Cultural and Natural State Reserve protects this spectacular phenomenon that reaches up to 3 metres in height, standing as a living testament to why Azerbaijan is known as the "Land of Fire". During our visit, we will gaze in wonder at the dancing flames against the night sky, listen to the gentle hiss of gas rising from the earth, and feel the mystical warmth of this perpetual fire that has captivated travellers and pilgrims for generations. Yashil Bazar

Yashil BazarThe Yashil Bazar, also known as the Green Market, is one of the most vibrant and authentic traditional markets in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. Located in the heart of the city, this bustling covered market has been for generations the epicentre of local trade in fresh produce. Its aisles are filled with a dazzling variety of fruits, vegetables, aromatic spices, fresh herbs, dried fruits and the famous Azerbaijani pickles, all presented in the characteristic Caucasian style. The Soviet architecture of the building contrasts with the warmth and colour of the traditional stalls, where merchants keep centuries-old trading traditions alive. During our tour, we will immerse ourselves in a sensory feast of aromas and flavours, taste the delicious qurut (dried yoghurt), interact with friendly local vendors and discover the secrets of the rich Azerbaijani cuisine as we explore the lively aisles of this historic market. Mud VolcanoesThe mud volcanoes of Azerbaijan represent one of the most fascinating geological phenomena in the Caucasus, located mainly on the Abşeron Peninsula and the coastal regions of the Caspian Sea. These extraordinary natural features, which account for nearly half of the world's mud volcanoes, have witnessed the rich geological history of the region for thousands of years. The lunar landscape created by more than 400 active volcanoes presents a unique spectacle where bubbling mud emerges from the depths of the earth, forming cones and small eruptions that have fascinated scientists and visitors alike for generations. During our exploration, we will marvel at the spectacle of cold mud geysers bursting from the ground, experience the healing power of these mineral-rich muds and walk along paths that wind between the volcanic cones, capturing unique photographs of this extraterrestrial landscape so characteristic of Azerbaijan. During our visit, we will admire its dazzling stained-glass windows, explore the elegant rooms and be transported back to the era of the khans as we discover the history of this magnificent palace. Albanian Church of Kish

Albanian Church of Kish The Albanian Church of Kish, situated in the picturesque village of Kish near Sheki, Azerbaijan, is an ancient Christian temple dating from the 1st century. Considered the oldest church in the Caucasus, it was an important spiritual centre of the Caucasian Albania kingdom. Its architecture combines local and Byzantine influences, and its mountain setting enhances its historical atmosphere. Today it functions as a museum, notable for its archaeological excavations and unique religious history. During our visit we will explore its restored interiors, learn about the ancient civilisations that built it and enjoy the serenity of the picturesque village surrounding it. Khareba Tunnel Winery

Khareba Tunnel Winery Nestled in the heart of the Kakheti region, Khareba Winery is renowned for its extraordinary system of tunnels excavated into the Caucasian mountain, stretching over 7.7 kilometres at a depth of 60 metres. Originally built during the Soviet era, this underground labyrinth maintains a constant natural temperature of 12–14°C, creating ideal conditions for wine ageing. The winery combines traditional Georgian winemaking methods in qvevri with modern technology, producing exceptional wines from indigenous grape varieties such as Saperavi and Rkatsiteli. During our visit, we will walk the mysterious tunnels torch in hand, learn about Georgia's 8,000 years of winemaking history and taste a select range of wines while enjoying local gastronomy. Alaverdi Monastery

Alaverdi Monastery Alaverdi Monastery, situated in the Kakheti region of Georgia, is an impressive cathedral dating from the 6th century. This historic site was founded by the monk Joseph of Alaverdi and, in the 11th century, became one of the tallest churches in Georgia with its magnificent dome. Surrounded by vineyards, the monastery is also famous for its winemaking tradition, which connects it deeply to the culture of the region. During our visit we will explore the majestic cathedral, learn about its rich history and enjoy the beauty of the vineyards surrounding this iconic landmark of Kakheti. Signaghi

Signaghi Signaghi, known as the "City of Love", is a picturesque walled town situated in the wine-growing region of Kakheti, at 790 metres above sea level. This 18th-century town, surrounded by a 4-kilometre wall with 23 towers, offers stunning views of the Alazani valley and the Caucasus mountains. It is noted for its traditional Georgian architecture, cobblestone streets and carved wooden balconies. During our visit, we will stroll through its romantic alleyways, taste the famous Kakheti wines at traditional wineries and watch the sunset over the valley from its ancient defensive walls.  

Bodbe Monastery

Bodbe Monastery Bodbe Monastery, located in the Kakheti region, is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Georgia, as it houses the tomb of Saint Nino, the evangelist who brought Christianity to the country in the 4th century. This monastic complex, surrounded by century-old cypress trees and lush gardens, combines architectural elements from the 9th and 17th centuries, featuring its three-nave basilica and traditional frescoes. During our visit, we will descend along the sacred path to Saint Nino's miraculous spring, take in the views of the Alazani valley and experience the deep spirituality that permeates this holy place.  

Day 7 - Tbilisi - Guided tour in English

Rustaveli Avenue

Rustaveli Avenue Rustaveli Avenue, the main artery of Tbilisi, stretches for 1.5 kilometres from Freedom Square to Republic Square. This iconic street, named after the medieval poet Shota Rustaveli, is home to the city's most prestigious buildings, including the Parliament of Georgia, the Opera Theatre and the National Museum, all built in neoclassical and Art Nouveau style during the 19th century. During our stroll, we will enjoy the vibrant Georgian cultural life, stop at its elegant historic cafés and admire the monumental architecture while exploring the many shops and art galleries.  

Metekhi Square

Metekhi Square Metekhi Square, one of the most emblematic historic sites in Tbilisi, stands on a cliff with privileged views of the Mtkvari river. This landmark is dominated by the 13th-century church and the equestrian statue of King Vakhtang Gorgasali, the legendary founder of the city. The square was for centuries the home of the royal palace, establishing itself as a strategic and cultural centre. Although the original church was built in the 5th century, the structure we can admire today is a 13th-century reconstruction. During our tour, we will delight in stunning panoramic views of the old town and the famous bath district. We will also explore the Metekhi church and immerse ourselves in the fascinating history of the king who, through his vision, established Tbilisi as the capital of Georgia, forging one of the most representative places in Georgian heritage.  

Narikala Fortress

Narikala Fortress Narikala Fortress, the iconic symbol of Tbilisi, has dominated the city's skyline since the 4th century. This ancient citadel, originally Persian and later expanded by Arabs and Georgians, rises on a steep hill overlooking the Mtkvari river and the old town. Its imposing walls and towers have witnessed the various civilisations that have governed Georgia, including the rebuilt Church of St Nicholas from the 12th century. During our visit, we will ride the cable car up to the fortress, walk along its ancient defensive walls and capture stunning panoramic views of Tbilisi as the sun sets over the city.  

Abanotubani

Abanotubani Abanotubani, the historic sulphur bath district in the heart of old Tbilisi, represents the original nucleus where the Georgian capital was founded. Located on the right bank of the Mtkvari river, this neighbourhood is famous for its characteristic sulphur baths with brick domes rising from the ground, witnessing over 1,500 years of history. The natural thermal waters that spring from the depths of the earth maintain a constant temperature of 37–40°C, and their healing properties have attracted illustrious visitors such as Alexander Pushkin and Alexandre Dumas. During our visit, we will wander through these streets of legendary thermal waters and lose ourselves in the picturesque medieval alleyways that wind between the baths, breathing in the most authentic essence of ancient Tbilisi.  

Anchiskhati

Anchiskhati Anchiskhati Basilica, the oldest church in Tbilisi, represents a vital testament to Georgia's Christian history since the 6th century. Located in the heart of the old town, this sandstone church, dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, owes its name to the miraculous icon of Christ (Anchiskhati) it housed for centuries. Its three-nave basilican architecture, typically Georgian, is complemented by medieval frescoes and a 17th-century bell tower. During our exploration, we will take in the mystical atmosphere of the temple, listen to the ancient Georgian polyphonic chants that still resonate within its walls and admire the craftsmanship of its traditional icons.  

Day 8 - Tbilisi - Ananuri - Kazbegi - Tbilisi

Ananuri

Ananuri Ananuri, an impressive medieval fortress situated 66 kilometres from Tbilisi, stands majestically above the Zhinvali reservoir on the historic Georgian Military Highway. This 13th-century architectural complex, which served as the seat of the eristavi (dukes) of Aragvi, combines defensive elements with extraordinary examples of Georgian religious architecture, highlighted by its main church with intricate stone reliefs and well-preserved frescoes. During our visit, we will explore the fortified towers, admire panoramic views of the turquoise reservoir and discover the secrets of Georgian medieval architecture as we walk through its ancient cobblestone courtyards.  

Gergeti Trinity Church

Gergeti Trinity Church The Gergeti Trinity Church stands majestically at 2,170 metres above sea level in the shadow of Mount Kazbegi (5,047m). This iconic 14th-century temple, situated in the historic region of Khevi, represents one of the most recognisable symbols of Georgia, distinguished by its remote location and traditional Georgian architecture against the backdrop of the snow-capped Caucasus mountains. During our excursion, we will ascend by 4x4 along the winding mountain track, explore the ancient monastic complex and contemplate panoramic views of the surrounding glaciers and peaks.
