From the vibrant capital of Tbilisi to the remarkable monasteries of Yerevan, this carefully designed itinerary takes you through ancient cities, majestic temples and impressive natural landscapes. Throughout the journey, you will experience the warmth of Caucasian hospitality, savor delicious local cuisine and explore UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Your adventure begins in Tbilisi, with a guided city tour that reveals its charming cobblestone streets and rich architecture. You will continue exploring the vineyards of Telavi, the impressive monasteries of Alaverdi and Gremi, and the cave city of Uplistsikhe. You will cross into Armenia to marvel at gems such as the Haghpat Monastery, the medieval masterpiece of Geghard and the iconic pagan temple of Garni. Your journey culminates in Yerevan, where you will explore the impressive Echmiadzin Cathedral and the ruins of Zvartnots. Every day of this trip promises memorable experiences and a deep connection with the cultural roots of the Caucasus.

Day 1 - Transfer from Tbilisi Airport to the City

Day 2 - Tbilisi - Guided City Tour

Rustaveli Avenue

Rustaveli Avenue Rustaveli Avenue, the main thoroughfare of Tbilisi, stretches 1.5 kilometers from Freedom Square to Republic Square. This iconic street, named after the medieval poet Shota Rustaveli, is home to the city's most prestigious buildings, including the Parliament of Georgia, the Opera House and the National Museum, all built in neoclassical and Art Nouveau style during the 19th century. During our stroll, we'll soak up the vibrant Georgian cultural life, stop at its elegant historic cafés and admire the monumental architecture while exploring the many shops and art galleries.  

Metekhi Square

Metekhi Square Metekhi Square, one of the most iconic historic landmarks of Tbilisi, stands on a cliff overlooking the Mtkvari River. This landmark is dominated by the 13th-century church and the equestrian statue of King Vakhtang Gorgasali, the legendary founder of the city. The square was for centuries home to the royal palace, establishing itself as a strategic and cultural center. Although the original church was built in the 5th century, the structure we admire today is a 13th-century reconstruction. During our tour, we'll delight in the stunning panoramic views of the old city and the famous bathhouse district. We'll also explore the Metekhi church and immerse ourselves in the fascinating history of the king whose vision established Tbilisi as the capital of Georgia.  

Narikala Fortress

Narikala Fortress Narikala Fortress, the iconic symbol of Tbilisi, has dominated the city skyline since the 4th century. This ancient citadel, originally Persian and later expanded by Arabs and Georgians, rises on a steep hill overlooking the Mtkvari River and the old city. Its imposing walls and towers have witnessed the various civilizations that have ruled Georgia, including the reconstructed Church of St. Nicholas from the 12th century. During our visit, we'll ride the cable car up to the fortress, walk along its ancient defensive walls and capture stunning panoramic views of Tbilisi as the sun sets over the city.  

Abanotubani

Abanotubani Abanotubani, the historic sulphur bathhouse district in the heart of old Tbilisi, represents the original core where the Georgian capital was founded. Located on the right bank of the Mtkvari River, this neighborhood is famous for its distinctive sulphur baths with brick domes emerging from the ground, bearing witness to over 1,500 years of history. The natural thermal springs that bubble up from the earth maintain a constant temperature of 37–40°C, and their healing properties have attracted illustrious visitors such as Alexander Pushkin and Alexandre Dumas. During our visit, we'll immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of these legendary thermal streets and get lost in the picturesque medieval alleyways that wind between the baths.  

Anchiskhati

Anchiskhati The Anchiskhati Basilica, the oldest church in Tbilisi, has been a vital testament to Georgia's Christian history since the 6th century. Located in the heart of the old city, this sandstone church dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary takes its name from the miraculous icon of Christ (Anchiskhati) that it housed for centuries. Its three-nave basilica architecture, typically Georgian, is complemented by medieval frescoes and a 17th-century bell tower. During our exploration, we'll absorb the mystical atmosphere of the temple, listen to the ancient Georgian polyphonic chants that still resonate within its walls, and admire the craftsmanship of its traditional icons.  

Day 3 - Tbilisi - Telavi - Alaverdi - Gremi - Kvareli - Tbilisi

Telavi

Telavi Nestled in the heart of the wine-producing region of Kakheti, Telavi rises majestically at the foothills of the Caucasus Mountains, serving as the historic capital of this eastern region of Georgia. This medieval city captivates with its imposing 17th-century fortress, the Palace of King Erekle II, its ancient walls and the legendary 900-year-old plane tree that has silently witnessed its rich history. Telavi is especially renowned for its traditional wine cellars and its crucial role in Georgia's millennial winemaking tradition, where the qvevri fermentation method still lives on. During our stay, we'll walk its cobblestone streets, visit the wonderful nearby monasteries, take part in a local wine tasting and experience genuine Georgian hospitality at traditional wine estates. Alaverdi Monastery

Alaverdi Monastery Alaverdi Monastery, located in the Kakheti region of Georgia, is an impressive cathedral dating back to the 6th century. This historic site was founded by the monk Joseph of Alaverdi and in the 11th century became one of the tallest churches in Georgia with its magnificent dome. Surrounded by vineyards, the monastery is also famous for its winemaking tradition, which connects it deeply to the culture of the region. During our visit we'll explore the majestic cathedral, learn about its rich history and enjoy the beauty of the vineyards surrounding this emblematic site in Kakheti. Gremi

Gremi Gremi, located in the Kakheti region of Georgia, is a fascinating architectural complex that was the capital of the Kingdom of Kakheti in the 16th century. Its strategic position and history as an important trading center make it a symbol of Georgia's rich cultural heritage. Khareba Tunnel Winery

Khareba Tunnel Winery Nestled in the heart of the Kakheti region, Khareba Winery stands out for its extraordinary tunnel system carved into the Caucasian mountain, extending over 7.7 kilometers at a depth of 60 meters. Originally built during the Soviet era, this underground labyrinth maintains a constant natural temperature of 12–14°C, creating ideal conditions for wine aging. The winery combines traditional Georgian winemaking methods using qvevri with modern technology, producing exceptional wines from indigenous grape varieties such as Saperavi and Rkatsiteli. During our visit, we'll walk the mysterious tunnels torch in hand, learn about Georgia's 8,000-year wine history and taste a select range of wines while enjoying local cuisine. Svetitskhoveli

Svetitskhoveli Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, located in the ancient capital of Mtskheta, is the spiritual heart of Georgia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994. This majestic 11th-century cathedral, built on the site where Christ's robe is said to be buried, is an extraordinary example of medieval Georgian architecture, with its tall decorated stone facade, central dome and historic frescoes. During our exploration, we'll uncover the many legends surrounding this sacred place, admire the extraordinary ecclesiastical architecture and witness the ancient religious traditions that still live on in this spiritual center. Uplistsikhe

Uplistsikhe Located in the Kartli region of central Georgia, Uplistsikhe is an ancient rock-hewn cave city dating back to the first millennium BC. This extraordinary archaeological complex, considered one of the oldest settlements in the Caucasus, was an important religious and commercial center on the historic Silk Road. Its architectural structures include pagan temples, Christian basilicas and civic buildings reflecting the unique fusion of Christian and pagan styles. The city is notable for its street system, secret tunnels and an exceptionally preserved Roman theatre. During our visit we'll explore the ancient wine cellars, walk along stone-carved alleyways and marvel at the panoramic views of the Mtkvari River from atop this natural acropolis, travelling back through over 3,000 years of Caucasian history. Stalin Museum

Stalin Museum The Stalin Museum in Gori, birthplace of the controversial Soviet leader, is one of the last museums in the world dedicated to Josef Stalin. The complex includes the original birthplace house, a Soviet palace-style building and Stalin's personal railway carriage. The exhibition houses an extensive collection of personal effects, photographs, historical documents and the original death mask of the dictator. During our visit, we'll explore the halls documenting Stalin's life from his youth in Georgia to his Soviet leadership, examine his luxurious armored railway carriage and reflect on the complex historical legacy he left in the region. During our visit we'll explore its detailed stone carvings, discover the historical treasures it holds and enjoy the panoramic views that make Haghpat an unforgettable place. Saghmosavank

Saghmosavank Perched above the spectacular Kasakh River canyon in the Aragatsotn province of Armenia, Saghmosavank Monastery is an architectural gem from the 13th century. This medieval monastic complex is distinguished by its extraordinary manuscript library and its gavit decorated with intricate reliefs, making it one of the finest examples of Armenia's cultural flourishing under the Zakarian dynasty. Its strategic location above the gorge and its distinctive red volcanic stone make it a unique testament to Armenian religious architecture. During our visit, we'll walk its lively streets, explore historic landmarks and enjoy genuine Armenian hospitality while sampling local delicacies and appreciating the unique essence of this fascinating city. Garni

Garni Garni, located in the Kotayk region of Armenia, is an emblematic destination known for its 1st-century pagan temple, unique in the South Caucasus. Its name, meaning "Monastery of the Spear", relates to the relic said to have pierced the side of Christ. Surrounded by mountain landscapes and a mystical atmosphere, Geghard is a symbol of Armenian spirituality. During our visit we'll tour the rock-hewn chapels, admire the intricate carvings and enjoy the serenity of the surroundings while discovering its profound history and significance. Echmiadzin

Echmiadzin Echmiadzin, known as the Holy See of the Armenian Apostolic Church, is one of Armenia's most sacred cities. Located in the Armavir region, it is home to Echmiadzin Cathedral, considered the oldest Christian cathedral in the world, built in the 4th century. This important spiritual and cultural center boasts impressive architecture and a rich heritage reflecting Armenia's deep Christian history. It is a must-see for lovers of history and religion. During our visit, we'll explore the majestic cathedral, discover religious treasures and immerse ourselves in the sacred atmosphere of this unique place.  

Zvartnots Temple

Zvartnots Temple Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the majestic Zvartnots Temple was built in the 7th century near Echmiadzin, Armenia, representing the pinnacle of medieval Armenian architecture. This unique monument, whose name means 'Temple of the Watchful Angels', was distinguished by its innovative three-tiered circular design that rose to 45 meters, setting new architectural standards for its era. Although now in ruins following its collapse in the 10th century due to an earthquake, its imposing remains, finely carved capitals and pioneering use of arches and vaults demonstrate the sophistication of ancient Armenia. During our exploration, we'll walk among the massive columns that once supported this architectural marvel, admire the delicate vine and pomegranate reliefs, and transport ourselves to the splendor of the ancient Kingdom of Armenia as Mount Ararat appears on the horizon.
