This 9-day itinerary lets you discover the best-kept secrets of this Caucasus gem, from its vibrant capital, Tbilisi, to the charming cities of Kutaisi and Batumi, passing through UNESCO World Heritage monasteries, traditional wineries and spectacular natural wonders like caves and canyons. Enjoy a carefully designed journey to explore the best of Georgia, ideal for those seeking an authentic and enriching experience. You'll begin your trip with a warm welcome in Tbilisi, where you'll explore its history-filled streets on a guided tour in English. You'll continue to the Kakheti region, known as the cradle of Georgian wine, visiting places like Telavi and the Alaverdi monastery. In the following days, you'll be amazed by iconic sites such as the Gelati Academy, the Prometheus Cave, and the city of Batumi, with its unique blend of sea and mountains. You'll also have the opportunity to savour the rich local cuisine, enjoy genuine Georgian hospitality, and live unforgettable moments in settings that seem straight out of a fairytale. This journey will take you to discover a country where past and present harmoniously intertwine to offer you an unforgettable experience.

Day 1 - Transfer from Tbilisi Airport to the capital

Day 2 - Tbilisi - Guided tour in English

Rustaveli Avenue

Rustaveli Avenue Rustaveli Avenue, the main artery of Tbilisi, stretches 1.5 kilometres from Freedom Square to Republic Square. This iconic street, named after medieval poet Shota Rustaveli, is home to the city's most prestigious buildings, including the Parliament of Georgia, the Opera Theatre and the National Museum, all built in neoclassical and Art Nouveau style during the 19th century. During our stroll, we'll enjoy the vibrant Georgian cultural life, stop at its elegant historic cafés and admire the monumental architecture while exploring the many shops and art galleries.  

Metekhi Square

Metekhi Square Metekhi Square, one of the most iconic historic landmarks of Tbilisi, rises above a cliff with commanding views of the Mtkvari river. This landmark is dominated by the 13th-century church and the equestrian statue of King Vakhtang Gorgasali, the legendary founder of the city. The square was for centuries the site of the royal palace, establishing itself as a strategic and cultural hub. Although the original church was built in the 5th century, the structure we can admire today is a 13th-century reconstruction. During our tour, we'll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the old town and the famous bathhouse district. We'll also explore the Metekhi church and immerse ourselves in the fascinating history of the king whose vision established Tbilisi as the capital of Georgia.  

Narikala Fortress

Narikala Fortress Narikala Fortress, an iconic symbol of Tbilisi, has dominated the city skyline since the 4th century. This ancient citadel, originally Persian and later expanded by Arabs and Georgians, rises above a steep hill overlooking the Mtkvari river and the old town. Its imposing walls and towers have witnessed the various civilisations that have ruled Georgia, including the reconstructed Church of St. Nicholas from the 12th century. During our visit, we'll ride the cable car up to the fortress, walk along its ancient defensive walls and capture stunning panoramic views of Tbilisi as the sun sets over the city.  

Abanotubani

Abanotubani Abanotubani, the historic sulphurous baths district in the heart of old Tbilisi, is the original nucleus where the Georgian capital was founded. Located on the right bank of the Mtkvari river, this neighbourhood is famous for its characteristic sulphur baths with brick domes emerging from the ground, witnesses to over 1,500 years of history. The natural thermal waters that spring from the earth maintain a constant temperature of 37–40°C, and their healing properties have attracted illustrious visitors such as Alexander Pushkin and Alexandre Dumas. During our visit, we'll wander through these streets of legendary thermal waters and lose ourselves in the picturesque medieval alleyways that wind between the bathhouses, breathing in the most authentic essence of ancient Tbilisi.  

Anchiskhati

Anchiskhati The Anchiskhati Basilica, the oldest church in Tbilisi, is a vital testament to Georgia's Christian history since the 6th century. Located in the heart of the old town, this sandstone church dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary takes its name from the miraculous icon of Christ (Anchiskhati) that it housed for centuries. Its three-nave basilica architecture, typically Georgian, is complemented by medieval frescoes and a 17th-century bell tower. During our exploration, we'll take in the mystical atmosphere of the temple, listen to the ancient Georgian polyphonic chants that still echo within its walls and admire the craftsmanship of its traditional icons.  

Day 3 - Tbilisi - Telavi - Alaverdi - Gremi - Kvareli - Tbilisi

Telavi

Telavi Nestled in the heart of the Kakheti wine-growing region, Telavi rises majestically at the foothills of the Caucasus mountains, serving as the historic capital of this eastern region of Georgia. This medieval city captivates with its imposing 17th-century fortress, the Palace of King Erekle II, its ancient walls and the legendary 900-year-old plane tree that has silently witnessed its rich history. Telavi is especially renowned for its traditional wineries and its crucial role in Georgia's millennia-old wine tradition, where the kvevri fermentation method lives on. During our stay, we'll walk its cobblestone streets, visit nearby magnificent monasteries, take part in a local wine tasting and immerse ourselves in genuine Georgian hospitality at traditional wine houses. Alaverdi Monastery

Alaverdi Monastery Alaverdi Monastery, located in the Kakheti region of Georgia, is an impressive cathedral dating from the 6th century. This historic site was founded by the monk Joseph of Alaverdi and, in the 11th century, became one of the tallest churches in Georgia with its magnificent dome. Surrounded by vineyards, the monastery is also famous for its winemaking tradition, connecting it deeply with the culture of the region. During our visit we'll explore the majestic cathedral, learn about its rich history and enjoy the beauty of the vineyards surrounding this emblematic landmark of Kakheti. Gremi Gremi, located in the Kakheti region of Georgia, is a fascinating architectural complex that served as the capital of the Kingdom of Kakheti in the 16th century. Its strategic location and its history as an important commercial centre make it a symbol of Georgia's rich cultural heritage. During our visit we'll explore the majestic church, enjoy the panoramic views from the tower and discover the history of this emblematic place in the heart of Kakheti. Khareba Winery in tunnel

Khareba Winery in tunnel Nestled in the heart of the Kakheti region, Khareba Winery stands out for its extraordinary system of tunnels carved into the Caucasian mountain, stretching over 7.7 kilometres at a depth of 60 metres. Originally built during the Soviet era, this underground labyrinth maintains a constant natural temperature of 12–14°C, creating ideal conditions for wine ageing. The winery combines traditional Georgian vinification methods in qvevri with modern technology, producing exceptional wines from indigenous grapes such as Saperavi and Rkatsiteli. During our visit, we'll walk the mysterious tunnels torch in hand, learn about 8,000 years of Georgian wine history and taste a select range of wines while enjoying the local gastronomy. Jvari - Monastery of the Cross

Built in the 6th century on top of a hill, this monastery offers stunning panoramic views of the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers. Considered a masterpiece of medieval Georgian architecture, it is a sacred place that symbolises the adoption of Christianity in Georgia. Svetitskhoveli

Svetitskhoveli Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, located in the ancient capital of Mtskheta, represents the spiritual heart of Georgia and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994. This majestic 11th-century cathedral, built on the site where the robe of Christ is said to be buried, is an extraordinary example of medieval Georgian architecture, with its tall decorated stone facade, central dome and historic frescoes. During our exploration, we'll discover the many legends surrounding this sacred place, admire the extraordinary ecclesiastical architecture and witness the ancient religious traditions that still live on at this spiritual centre. Uplistsikhe

Uplistsikhe Located in the Kartli region of central Georgia, Uplistsikhe is an ancient rock-hewn cave city dating back to the first millennium BC. This extraordinary archaeological complex, considered one of the oldest settlements in the Caucasus, was an important religious and commercial centre on the historic Silk Road. Its architectural structures include pagan temples, Christian basilicas and civic buildings that reflect the unique fusion of Christian and pagan styles. The city is notable for its street system, secret tunnels and an exceptionally well-preserved Roman theatre. During our visit we'll explore the ancient wine cellars, walk along lanes carved in stone and marvel at the panoramic views of the Mtkvari river from the top of this natural acropolis, transported through over 3,000 years of Caucasian history. Stalin Museum

Stalin Museum The Stalin Museum in Gori, the birthplace of the controversial Soviet leader, is one of the last museums in the world dedicated to Josef Stalin. The complex includes the original birthplace house, a Soviet palace-style building and Stalin's personal railway carriage. The exhibition houses an extensive collection of personal items, photographs, historical documents and the original death mask of the dictator. During our visit, we'll explore the rooms documenting Stalin's life from his youth in Georgia to his Soviet leadership, examine his luxurious armoured railway carriage and reflect on the complex historical legacy he left in the region. Bagrati Cathedral

Bagrati Cathedral Dominating the Kutaisi skyline from Ukimerioni hill, the majestic Bagrati Cathedral is a masterpiece of medieval Georgian architecture and a symbol of the country's Golden Age. Built during the reign of King Bagrat III in the 11th century, this Orthodox church exemplifies the grandeur of the classical Georgian architectural style with its characteristic central dome and elaborate stone reliefs. Although partially reconstructed in 2012, it retains its significance as one of Georgia's most important monuments and was part of the UNESCO World Heritage. During our visit, we'll contemplate spectacular panoramic views of Kutaisi from its terraces, admire the architectural details that blend ancient and modern elements, and experience the serenity of this sacred space that has witnessed over a thousand years of history. Motsameta

Gelati Academy The Gelati Academy, located in the western region of Georgia near Kutaisi, is one of the most significant cultural centres of the medieval Caucasus. Gonio Fortress

Gonio Fortress Gonio Fortress, located near the Black Sea coast a few kilometres from Batumi in Georgia, is a monument of great historical significance. Built in the Roman era, this fortification dates from the 1st century AD and is considered one of the oldest archaeological sites in the country. Famous for its defensive design and its connection to the Silk Road, Gonio also harbours legends related to the tomb of the Apostle Matthias, making this a blend of history and myth. During our visit we'll walk along its ancient walls, explore the archaeological museum and discover the mysteries and legends surrounding this fascinating destination on the Black Sea coast.

Shekvetili Dendrological Park

Shekvetili Dendrological Park The Shekvetili Dendrological Park is located on the Black Sea coast in the Guria region of Georgia, representing one of the most innovative and modern botanical gardens in the Caucasus. This fascinating green space, opened in 2020, covers 60 hectares where over 200 species of exotic plants are displayed in different microclimates and themed environments. The park is notable for its state-of-the-art tropical greenhouse, its Japanese gardens and its impressive collection of giant bamboo and palm trees. During our tour, we'll marvel at the elevated walkways among the treetops, explore Georgia's largest hedge maze and enjoy panoramic views from the observation tower that overlooks the entire botanical complex.  

Baia's Wine Winery

Baia's Wine Winery In the heart of the Imereti wine region of Georgia, Baia's Wine represents the perfect fusion of ancient tradition and modern winemaking. This family vineyard, run by the charismatic Baia Abuladze, has become a benchmark for natural wine production using the traditional Georgian method in qvevri (buried clay amphorae), a technique with 8,000 years of history recognised by UNESCO. Its organic vineyards cultivate indigenous varieties such as Tsolikouri, Krakhuna and Tsitska in mineral-rich soils. During our experience, we'll take part in an intimate tasting of its exceptional natural wines, learn about the ancestral qvevri winemaking process and enjoy genuine Georgian hospitality accompanied by traditional Imereti dishes.
