From the dynamic capital of Tbilisi to the remote mountain villages of Svaneti, this carefully crafted itinerary takes you to explore some of the country's most iconic sights. Each day brings a new adventure — from visiting historic monasteries like Gelati and Bagrati to marveling at nature in the Okatse Canyon and the spectacular views of Hatsvali. Your journey begins with a warm welcome in Tbilisi, where you'll explore its cobblestone streets and unique blend of old and new on a guided tour. Then you'll travel through impressive destinations like Ananuri, with its iconic fortress complex, and Kazbegi, home to the majestic church of Gergeti. You'll discover Georgia's ancient capital, Mtskheta, and the mysterious cave city of Uplistsikhe. In the mountainous Svaneti region, you'll uncover the charm of villages like Mestia and Ushguli, a UNESCO World Heritage site surrounded by glaciers and snowy peaks. Itinerario

Day 1 – Transfer from Tbilisi Airport to the city centre

Rustaveli Avenue

Avenida Rustaveli Rustaveli Avenue, the main boulevard of Tbilisi, stretches 1.5 kilometres from Freedom Square to Republic Square. Named after medieval poet Shota Rustaveli, this iconic street is lined with the city's most prestigious buildings, including the Georgian Parliament, the Opera House and the National Museum, all built in neoclassical and Art Nouveau style in the 19th century. On our stroll we'll soak up Tbilisi's vibrant cultural life, stop at elegant historic cafés and admire the monumental architecture as we browse the many shops and art galleries.

Metekhi Square

Plaza de Metekhi Metekhi Square, one of Tbilisi's most iconic historic spots, sits on a cliff with sweeping views of the Mtkvari River. The landmark is dominated by a 13th-century church and the equestrian statue of King Vakhtang Gorgasali, the city's legendary founder. For centuries the square housed the royal palace, making it a key strategic and cultural hub. Although the original church dates to the 5th century, the current structure is a 13th-century rebuild. We'll enjoy panoramic views of the old town and the famous bathhouse district, explore Metekhi Church and learn about the visionary king who established Tbilisi as Georgia's capital.

Narikala Fortress

Fortaleza Narikala Narikala Fortress, the iconic symbol of Tbilisi, has dominated the city skyline since the 4th century. This ancient citadel — originally Persian, later expanded by Arabs and Georgians — rises above a steep hill with views over the Mtkvari River and the old town. Its imposing walls and towers have witnessed the many civilisations that have ruled Georgia, including the rebuilt St Nicholas Church from the 12th century. We'll ride the cable car up to the fortress, walk its ancient defensive walls and capture stunning panoramic views of Tbilisi at sunset.

Abanotubani

Abanotubani Abanotubani, the historic sulphur bath district in the heart of old Tbilisi, is the original core where the Georgian capital was founded. Located on the right bank of the Mtkvari River, the neighbourhood is famous for its distinctive sulphur baths with brick domes rising from the ground — witnesses to over 1,500 years of history. Natural thermal springs maintain a constant temperature of 37–40°C, and their healing properties have attracted famous visitors such as Alexander Pushkin and Alexandre Dumas. We'll wander through the legendary thermal streets and lose ourselves in the picturesque medieval alleyways that wind between the bathhouses, breathing in the most authentic atmosphere of ancient Tbilisi.  

Anchiskhati

Anchiskhati The Anchiskhati Basilica, the oldest church in Tbilisi, is a vital testament to Georgia's Christian history since the 6th century. Located in the heart of the old town, this sandstone church — dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary — takes its name from the miraculous icon of Christ (Anchiskhati) it housed for centuries. Its three-nave basilica layout, typically Georgian, is complemented by medieval frescoes and a 17th-century bell tower. During our visit we'll soak up the mystical atmosphere of the temple, listen to the ancient Georgian polyphonic chants still echoing within its walls and admire the craftsmanship of its traditional icons.  

Day 3 – Tbilisi – Ananuri – Kazbegi – Tbilisi

Ananuri

Ananuri Ananuri, a stunning medieval fortress 66 kilometres from Tbilisi, rises majestically above the Zhinvali Reservoir on the historic Georgian Military Highway. This 13th-century complex — once the seat of the eristavis (dukes) of Aragvi — combines defensive elements with extraordinary examples of Georgian religious architecture, highlighted by the main church with intricate stone reliefs and well-preserved frescoes. We'll explore the fortified towers, admire panoramic views of the turquoise reservoir and discover the secrets of medieval Georgian architecture as we stroll through the ancient cobblestone courtyards.  

Gergeti Trinity Church

Trinidad de Gergeti The Gergeti Trinity Church stands majestically at 2,170 metres in the shadow of Kazbegi peak (5,047 m). This iconic 14th-century temple, set in the historic Khevi region, is one of Georgia's most recognisable symbols, prized for its remote location and traditional Georgian architecture against a backdrop of snow-capped Caucasus peaks. We'll drive up the winding mountain track in a 4x4, explore the ancient monastic complex and take in panoramic views of the surrounding glaciers and summits.  

Day 4 – Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Uplistsikhe – Gori – Kutaisi

Jvari – Monastery of the Cross

Djvari - Monasterio de la cruz Jvari Monastery, known as the "Monastery of the Cross", is an iconic religious site near Mtskheta, Georgia, and a UNESCO World Heritage monument. Built in the 6th century on a hilltop, the monastery offers sweeping panoramic views of the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers. Considered a masterpiece of medieval Georgian architecture, it is a sacred place that symbolises Georgia's adoption of Christianity. During our visit we'll explore its unique architectural design, enjoy the spectacular views and learn about its deep historical and spiritual significance. Drive 13 KM, 0 hours 18 minutes

Svetitskhoveli

Svetitskhoveli Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, in the ancient capital of Mtskheta, is the spiritual heart of Georgia and a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1994. This majestic 11th-century cathedral — built on the spot where Christ's robe is said to be buried — is an extraordinary example of medieval Georgian architecture, featuring a tall decorated stone façade, a central dome and historic frescoes. We'll discover the many legends surrounding this sacred place, admire the extraordinary ecclesiastical architecture and witness the ancient religious traditions that still thrive in this spiritual centre. Uplistsikhe

Uplistsikhe Located in the Kartli region of central Georgia, Uplistsikhe is an ancient rock-hewn town dating back to the first millennium BC. This extraordinary archaeological complex, considered one of the Caucasus's oldest settlements, was an important religious and commercial hub on the historic Silk Road. Its architectural structures include pagan temples, Christian basilicas and civic buildings that reflect a unique fusion of Christian and pagan styles. The city is notable for its street network, secret tunnels and an exceptionally well-preserved Roman-style theatre. We'll explore the ancient wine cellars, walk through stone-carved alleyways and marvel at the panoramic views of the Mtkvari River from this natural acropolis — a journey through more than 3,000 years of Caucasian history. Stalin Museum

Museo de Stalin The Stalin Museum in Gori, birthplace of the controversial Soviet leader, is one of the last museums in the world dedicated to Josef Stalin. The complex includes the original birth house, a Soviet palace-style building and Stalin's personal railway carriage. The exhibition holds an extensive collection of personal objects, photographs, historical documents and the dictator's original death mask. We'll explore the rooms documenting Stalin's life from his youth in Georgia to his Soviet leadership, examine his armoured luxury railway carriage and reflect on the complex historical legacy he left in the region. Day 5 – Kutaisi – Okatse – Martvili – Mestia

Okatse Canyon

Okatse Cañón Okatse Canyon, in the Imereti region of Georgia, is a natural wonder offering spectacular views of a deep gorge surrounded by lush vegetation. This impressive canyon features a 700-metre suspended walkway that lets visitors stroll high above the gorge and enjoy panoramic views of waterfalls and the river flowing below — a perfect destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers. During our visit we'll cross the suspended walkway, admire the scale of the canyon and enjoy the unique connection with nature that this spectacular spot provides. "

Martvili Canyon

Martvili Cañón Martvili Canyon, in the Samegrelo region of Georgia, is a natural wonder known for its turquoise waters and stunning waterfalls. Formed over thousands of years of erosion, this canyon offers a dreamlike setting surrounded by lush vegetation. Visitors can enjoy boat rides along the Abasha River, explore scenic trails and marvel at the unique rock formations and local legends connected to the area. During our visit we'll glide along the crystal-clear waters by boat, walk trails enveloped in nature and enjoy the serenity and incomparable beauty of Martvili Canyon.

Day 6 – Mestia – Chalaadi – Hatsvali – Mestia

Chalaadi Glacier

Glacial Chalaadi Chalaadi Glacier, set among the majestic Caucasus mountains near Mestia, Georgia, is a spectacular glacier descending from Ushba peak, one of the region's most iconic summits. Fed by eternal snows, this glacier marks the source of the Mestiachala River; its surroundings combine rugged rocky terrain with dense forest. Accessible via a scenic trail, Chalaadi offers a unique experience for nature lovers and adventurers. During our visit we'll hike the thrilling trail to the glacier, admire its ice formations and enjoy the peace and beauty of this mountain paradise.  

Hatsvali

Hatsvali Hatsvali, near Mestia in Georgia's Svaneti region, is a modern mountain resort ideal for skiers and outdoor enthusiasts. Surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Greater Caucasus, Hatsvali offers well-groomed slopes, a panoramic cable car and spectacular views of Ushba peak and the surrounding landscape. Its tranquil atmosphere and modern facilities make it a perfect destination in both winter and summer. During our visit we'll enjoy thrilling runs on the ski slopes, take the cable car for sweeping mountain views and explore the natural beauty that makes Hatsvali an unforgettable place.  

Day 7 – Mestia – Ushguli – Kutaisi

Ushguli

Ushguli Perched at 2,200 metres above sea level, Ushguli is one of the highest continuously inhabited settlements in Europe, located in the remote Svaneti region of Georgia. This cluster of medieval villages, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, captivates with over 20 defensive stone towers from the 12th century — iconic symbols of Svan architecture rising majestically against the backdrop of Mount Shkhara, Georgia's highest peak. The village preserves the traditions, language and customs of the ancient Svan culture intact. During our exploration we'll stay in traditional local homes, hike to Shkhara Glacier, photograph the stunning sunrise over the medieval towers and share unique moments with the community keeping the spirit of ancient Svaneti alive.  

Day 8 – Kutaisi – Bagrati – Gelati – Prometheus Cave – Tbilisi

Bagrati Cathedral

Catedral de Bagrati Commanding the Kutaisi skyline from Ukimerioni Hill, the magnificent Bagrati Cathedral is a masterpiece of medieval Georgian architecture and a symbol of the country's Golden Age. Built during the reign of King Bagrat III in the 11th century, this Orthodox church exemplifies Georgian classical architectural grandeur with its distinctive central dome and elaborate stone reliefs. Though partially rebuilt in 2012, it remains one of Georgia's most important monuments and was part of the UNESCO World Heritage List. We'll take in spectacular panoramic views of Kutaisi from its terraces, admire the architectural details blending ancient and modern elements and experience the serenity of this sacred space bearing witness to over a thousand years of history. Gelati Academy

Academia de Gelati Gelati Academy, in western Georgia near Kutaisi, is one of the most significant cultural centres of the medieval Caucasus. This fortified monastery from the 12th century, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, was a major centre of Georgian education and literature where Christian and classical traditions converged. Its impressive frescoes, unique architecture and Royal Academy stand as testimonies to the Georgian Golden Age. We'll explore the majestic stone buildings and admire the intricate frescoes adorning their walls, immersed in the contemplative atmosphere that once inspired the greatest thinkers of the medieval Georgian kingdom. Prometheus Cave

La cueva de Prometeus Prometheus Cave, near Kutaisi in Georgia, is one of the country's most impressive and extensive caves, ranking as a major natural attraction. Discovered in 1984, this fascinating underground cavern takes visitors through vast halls adorned with stalactites, stalagmites and spectacular rock formations that, thanks to carefully designed lighting, create a magical and immersive atmosphere. Beyond the well-laid walkways through the stunning interior landscapes, visitors can enjoy a peaceful boat ride along the underground river flowing through the cave — a unique experience that highlights the region's natural and geological wealth.
