Bagrati Cathedral

Although partially reconstructed in 2012, it retains its significance as one of Georgia's most important monuments and was part of the UNESCO World Heritage. Rustaveli Avenue

Avenida Rustaveli Rustaveli Avenue, the main artery of Tbilisi, stretches 1.5 kilometers from Freedom Square to Republic Square. This iconic street, named after medieval poet Shota Rustaveli, is home to the city's most prestigious buildings, including the Parliament of Georgia, the Opera House, and the National Museum, all built in neoclassical and Art Nouveau style during the 19th century. During our stroll, we will enjoy the vibrant Georgian cultural scene, stop at elegant historic cafés, and admire the monumental architecture while exploring the numerous shops and art galleries.

Metekhi Square

Plaza de Metekhi Metekhi Square, one of the most iconic historic spots in Tbilisi, rises above a cliff with privileged views of the Mtkvari River. This landmark is dominated by the 13th-century church and the equestrian statue of King Vakhtang Gorgasali, the legendary founder of the city. The square was for centuries home to the royal palace and served as a strategic and cultural center. Although the original church was built in the 5th century, the structure we see today is a 13th-century reconstruction. During our tour, we will delight in the impressive panoramic views of the old town and the famous baths district. We will also explore Metekhi Church and immerse ourselves in the fascinating history of the king who established Tbilisi as Georgia's capital.

Narikala Fortress

Fortaleza Narikala Narikala Fortress, the iconic symbol of Tbilisi, has dominated the city's skyline since the 4th century. This ancient citadel, originally Persian and later expanded by Arabs and Georgians, rises above a steep hill overlooking the Mtkvari River and the old town. Its imposing walls and towers have witnessed the various civilizations that ruled Georgia, including the reconstructed 12th-century Church of St. Nicholas. During our visit, we will ride the cable car up to the fortress, walk along its ancient defensive walls, and capture stunning panoramic views of Tbilisi as the sun sets over the city.

Abanotubani

Abanotubani Abanotubani, the historic sulfurous baths district in the heart of old Tbilisi, is the original core where the Georgian capital was founded. Located on the right bank of the Mtkvari River, this neighborhood is famous for its distinctive sulfur baths with brick domes emerging from the ground, bearing witness to over 1,500 years of history. The natural thermal waters that spring from the earth maintain a constant temperature of 37-40°C, and their healing properties have attracted illustrious visitors such as Alexander Pushkin and Alexandre Dumas. During our visit, we will wander through the streets of legendary thermal waters and lose ourselves in the picturesque medieval alleys that wind between the baths, breathing in the most authentic essence of ancient Tbilisi.  

Anchiskhati

Anchiskhati The Anchiskhati Basilica, the oldest church in Tbilisi, is a vital testament to Georgia's Christian history since the 6th century. Located in the heart of the old town, this sandstone church, dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, owes its name to the miraculous icon of Christ (Anchiskhati) it housed for centuries. Its typically Georgian three-nave basilica architecture is complemented by medieval frescoes and a 17th-century bell tower. During our exploration, we will partake in the mystical atmosphere of the temple, listen to the ancient Georgian polyphonic chants that still resonate within its walls, and admire the craftsmanship of its traditional icons.

Ananuri

Ananuri Ananuri, an impressive medieval fortress situated 66 kilometers from Tbilisi, rises majestically above the Zhinvali Reservoir on the historic Georgian Military Highway. This 13th-century architectural complex, which served as the seat of the eristavis (dukes) of Aragvi, combines defensive elements with extraordinary examples of Georgian religious architecture, highlighted by the main church with intricate stone reliefs and well-preserved frescoes. During our visit, we will explore the fortified towers, admire the panoramic views of the turquoise reservoir, and uncover the secrets of medieval Georgian architecture as we stroll through the ancient cobblestone courtyards.  

Gergeti Trinity Church

Trinidad de Gergeti The Gergeti Trinity Church stands majestically at 2,170 meters above sea level in the shadow of Mount Kazbegi (5,047m). This iconic 14th-century temple, situated in the historic region of Khevi, is one of Georgia's most recognizable symbols, distinguished by its remote location and traditional Georgian architecture against the backdrop of the snow-capped Caucasus Mountains. During our excursion, we will ride up in a 4x4 along the winding mountain track, explore the ancient monastic complex, and take in the panoramic views of the surrounding glaciers and peaks.  

Day 5 - Tbilisi - Telavi - Alaverdi - Gremi - Kvareli - Tbilisi

Telavi

Telavi Nestled in the heart of the Kakheti wine region, Telavi rises majestically at the foothills of the Caucasus Mountains and serves as the historic capital of this eastern region of Georgia. This medieval city captivates with its imposing 17th-century fortress, the Palace of King Erekle II, its ancient walls, and the legendary 900-year-old plane tree that has silently witnessed its rich history. Telavi is particularly renowned for its traditional wineries and its crucial role in the millennia-old Georgian wine tradition, where the kvevri fermentation method lives on. During our stay, we will walk cobblestone streets, visit wonderful nearby monasteries, take part in a local wine tasting, and immerse ourselves in authentic Georgian hospitality at traditional wine houses. Alaverdi Monastery

Its architectural structures include pagan temples, Christian basilicas, and civic buildings that reflect the unique fusion of Christian and pagan styles. The city is distinguished by its street system, secret tunnels, and an exceptionally well-preserved Roman theatre. During our visit we will explore ancient wine cellars, walk through rock-carved alleyways, and marvel at the panoramic views of the Mtkvari River from the top of this natural acropolis, travelling through more than 3,000 years of Caucasian history. Stalin Museum
