It is a journey through Georgia, where every day a new discovery awaits you on this extraordinary 5-day itinerary. This carefully designed tour takes you on an adventure combining millennia of history, wine-making tradition and impressive nature in the heart of the Caucasus. From the mystical monasteries of David Gareji to the majestic landscapes of Gudauri, each stop has been chosen to offer you an immersive experience of Georgia's rich heritage. You will explore ancient monasteries, medieval fortresses, centuries-old vineyards and cave cities, while immersing yourself in legendary Georgian hospitality and its world-renowned exceptional gastronomy.

The tour begins by exploring the impressive David Gareji monastic complex, followed by the sacred Bodbe Monastery and the charming walled town of Sighnaghi, known as the "City of Love". The adventure continues through the Kakheti region, Georgia's wine heartland, visiting the historic monasteries of Nekresi and Alaverdi, along with the majestic palace of Gremi. The route leads towards the heights of the Caucasus, where the imposing Ananuri fortress complex and the iconic Gergeti Church, with its spectacular views of Mount Kazbegi, await you. The journey continues through the cave city of Uplistsikhe and historic Gori, culminating with the architectural jewels of Kutaisi: Bagrati Cathedral and Gelati Monastery, before marvelling at the spectacular Prometheus Caves.

Itinerario

Day 1 - Tbilisi - David Gareji - Bodbe - Sighnaghi

David Gareji

David Gareji The David Gareji Monastery, an extraordinary monastic complex carved into rock in the 6th century, is located in the arid border region between Georgia and Azerbaijan. Founded by Assyrian monk David Garejeli, this sacred site comprises hundreds of cells, churches, chapels and refectories spread across multiple levels of the mountain, distinguished by its unique medieval frescoes combining Georgian and Byzantine styles. During our exploration, we will ascend via ancient paths to the upper caves, admire the impressive 11th and 12th-century frescoes, and enjoy panoramic views over the semi-arid Gareji desert.  

Bodbe Monastery

Monasterio de Bodbe Bodbe Monastery, located in the Kakheti region, is one of Georgia's most important pilgrimage sites, as it houses the tomb of Saint Nino, the evangelist who brought Christianity to the country in the 4th century. This monastic complex, surrounded by centuries-old cypresses and lush gardens, combines architectural elements from the 9th and 17th centuries, featuring its three-nave basilica and traditional frescoes. During our visit, we will descend along the sacred path to Saint Nino's miraculous spring, take in the views over the Alazani Valley and experience the deep spirituality that permeates this holy place.  

Day 2 - Sighnaghi - Nekresi - Gremi - Alaverdi - Telavi

Nekresi Monastery

Monasterio de Nekresi Nekresi Monastery, located in the Kakheti region of Georgia, is an ancient monastic complex founded in the 4th century, making it one of the oldest Christian centres in the country. Perched on a hilltop overlooking the Alazani Valley, Nekresi stands out for its small early Christian church, its rich history and its impressive natural surroundings. This monastery has been an important spiritual and cultural refuge throughout the centuries. During our visit we will walk through its historic chapels, enjoy the panoramic views of the valley and immerse ourselves in the tranquility and history that surround this sacred place. Gremi

Gremi Gremi, located in the Kakheti region of Georgia, is a fascinating architectural complex that served as the capital of the Kingdom of Kakheti in the 16th century. This historic site houses the Church of the Archangels, a bell tower and ruins of the ancient city surrounded by a mountain landscape. Its strategic location and history as an important trading centre make it a symbol of Georgia's rich cultural heritage. During our visit we will explore the majestic church, enjoy the panoramic views from the tower and discover the history of this iconic place in the heart of Kakheti. Road 35 km, 0 hours 32 minutes

Alaverdi Monastery

Monasterio de Alaverdi Alaverdi Monastery, located in the Kakheti region of Georgia, is an impressive cathedral dating from the 6th century. This historic site was founded by the monk Joseph of Alaverdi and in the 11th century became one of the tallest churches in Georgia with its magnificent dome. Surrounded by vineyards, the monastery is also famous for its wine-making tradition, connecting it deeply with the culture of the region. During our visit we will explore the majestic cathedral, learn about its rich history and enjoy the beauty of the vineyards surrounding this iconic place in Kakheti. Road 21 km, 0 hours 25 minutes

Day 3 - Telavi - Ananuri - Gergeti - Gudauri

Ananuri

Ananuri Ananuri, an impressive medieval fortress located 66 kilometres from Tbilisi, rises majestically above the Zhinvali Reservoir on the historic Georgian Military Highway. This 13th-century architectural complex, which served as the seat of the eristavis (dukes) of Aragvi, combines defensive elements with extraordinary examples of Georgian religious architecture, featuring its main church with intricate stone reliefs and well-preserved frescoes. During our visit, we will explore the fortified towers, admire the panoramic views of the turquoise reservoir and discover the secrets of Georgian medieval architecture as we stroll through its ancient cobbled courtyards.  

Gergeti Trinity Church

Trinidad de Gergeti The Gergeti Trinity Church stands majestically at 2,170 metres above sea level in the shadow of Mount Kazbegi (5,047 m). This iconic 14th-century church, located in the historic Khevi region, is one of Georgia's most recognisable symbols, distinguished by its remote location and traditional Georgian architecture against the backdrop of the snow-capped Caucasus mountains. During our excursion, we will ascend by 4x4 along the winding mountain track, explore the ancient monastic complex and take in panoramic views of the surrounding glaciers and peaks.  

Day 4 - Gudauri - Uplistsikhe - Gori - Kutaisi

Uplistsikhe

Uplistsikhe Located in the Kartli region of central Georgia, Uplistsikhe is an ancient rock-cut cave city dating from the first millennium BC. This extraordinary archaeological complex, considered one of the oldest settlements in the Caucasus, was an important religious and commercial centre on the historic Silk Road. Its architectural structures include pagan temples, Christian basilicas and civic buildings reflecting the unique fusion of Christian and pagan styles. The city stands out for its street system, secret tunnels and an exceptionally well-preserved Roman theatre. During our visit we will explore the ancient wine cellars, walk through stone-carved alleyways and marvel at the panoramic views of the Mtkvari River from the top of this natural acropolis, travelling through more than 3,000 years of Caucasian history.  

Stalin Museum

Museo de Stalin The Stalin Museum in Gori, birthplace of the controversial Soviet leader, is one of the last museums dedicated to Josef Stalin in the world. The complex includes the original birthplace house, a Soviet palace-style building and Stalin's personal railway carriage. The exhibition houses an extensive collection of personal belongings, photographs, historical documents and the original death mask of the dictator. During our visit, we will explore the halls documenting Stalin's life from his youth in Georgia to his Soviet leadership, examine his luxurious armoured railway carriage and reflect on the complex historical legacy he left in the region.  

Day 5 - Kutaisi - Bagrati - Gelati - Prometheus - Tbilisi

Bagrati Cathedral

Catedral de Bagrati Dominating the Kutaisi skyline from Ukimerioni Hill, the majestic Bagrati Cathedral is a masterpiece of Georgian medieval architecture and a symbol of the country's Golden Age. Built during the reign of King Bagrat III in the 11th century, this Orthodox church exemplifies the grandeur of the classic Georgian architectural style with its characteristic central dome and elaborate stone reliefs. Although partially reconstructed in 2012, it retains its significance as one of Georgia's most important monuments and was part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. During our visit, we will take in the spectacular panoramic views of Kutaisi from its terraces, admire the architectural details fusing ancient and modern elements, and experience the serenity of this sacred space that has witnessed over a thousand years of history. Gelati Academy

Academia de Gelati Gelati Academy, located in western Georgia near Kutaisi, is one of the most significant cultural centres of the medieval Caucasus. This 12th-century fortified monastery, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was an important centre of Georgian education and literature where Christian and classical traditions converged. Its impressive frescoes, unique architecture and the Royal Academy stand as testaments to Georgia's Golden Age. During our visit, we will explore the majestic stone buildings and admire the intricate frescoes decorating its walls, while immersing ourselves in the contemplative atmosphere that once inspired the greatest thinkers of the medieval Georgian kingdom. Prometheus Cave

La cueva de Prometeus Prometheus Cave, located near Kutaisi in Georgia, is one of the most impressive and extensive caves in the country, standing out as an important natural and tourist attraction. Discovered in 1984, this fascinating underground cavern offers a tour through vast halls adorned with stalactites, stalagmites and spectacular rock formations that, thanks to careful lighting, create a magical and enveloping atmosphere. In addition to the well-marked trails that allow exploration of its impressive interior landscapes, visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a peaceful boat ride along the underground river running through the cave, providing a unique experience that highlights the natural and geological richness of the region.
