It is an 18-day adventure through Georgia and Armenia, where every step takes you through a mosaic of unique experiences in the heart of the Caucasus. This extraordinary journey begins in vibrant Tbilisi and guides you through an itinerary that includes the majestic mountains of the Caucasus, the wine valleys of Kakheti, and the remote tower villages of Svaneti. The route crosses some of the most impressive landscapes in Georgia, from the snowy heights of Gudauri to the subtropical shores of Batumi, before venturing into historic Armenia with its ancient monasteries and rich cultural heritage. The itinerary is meticulously planned to reveal the most precious treasures of the region: you will explore the ancient caves of Vardzia, marvel at the medieval architecture of Kutaisi, ascend to the iconic Gergeti Monastery with Mount Kazbek as a backdrop, and discover the profound Armenian spirituality in Echmiadzin. Each day combines spectacular nature with living history, from the wild canyons of Martvili to the ancient pagan temples of Garni, offering a complete immersion in the rich cultural tapestry of the Caucasus.

Rustaveli Avenue

Rustaveli Avenue Rustaveli Avenue, the main artery of Tbilisi, stretches 1.5 kilometres from Freedom Square to Republic Square. This emblematic street, named in honour of the medieval poet Shota Rustaveli, houses the most prestigious buildings in the city, including the Parliament of Georgia, the Opera Theatre and the National Museum, all built in neoclassical and Art Nouveau style during the 19th century. During our walk, we will enjoy the vibrant Georgian cultural life, stop at its elegant historic cafés and admire the monumental architecture while exploring the many shops and art galleries.  

Metekhi Square

Metekhi Square Metekhi Square, one of the most emblematic historic sites in Tbilisi, rises on a cliff with privileged views over the Mtkvari river. This landmark is dominated by the 13th-century church and the equestrian statue of King Vakhtang Gorgasali, the legendary founder of the city. The square was for centuries the home of the royal palace, establishing itself as a strategic and cultural centre. Although the original church was built in the 5th century, the structure we can admire today is a 13th-century reconstruction. During our tour, we will delight in the impressive panoramic views of the old city and the famous bath district. We will also explore Metekhi church and immerse ourselves in the fascinating history of the king who, with his vision, established Tbilisi as the capital of Georgia, forging one of the most representative places of Georgian heritage.  

Narikala Fortress

Narikala Fortress Narikala Fortress, the iconic symbol of Tbilisi, has dominated the city's skyline since the 4th century. This ancient citadel, originally Persian and later expanded by Arabs and Georgians, rises on a steep hill overlooking the Mtkvari river and the old city. Its imposing walls and towers have witnessed the various civilisations that have governed Georgia, including the rebuilt Church of Saint Nicholas from the 12th century. During our visit, we will take the cable car up to the fortress, walk along its ancient defensive walls and capture impressive panoramic views of Tbilisi as the sun sets over the city.  

Abanotubani

Abanotubani Abanotubani, the historic sulphur bath district in the heart of old Tbilisi, represents the original core where the Georgian capital was founded. Located on the right bank of the Mtkvari river, this neighbourhood is famous for its characteristic sulphur baths with brick domes that emerge from the ground, witnesses to over 1,500 years of history. The natural thermal waters that spring from the earth's depths maintain a constant temperature of 37–40°C, and their healing properties have attracted illustrious visitors such as Alexander Pushkin and Alexandre Dumas. During our visit, we will immerse ourselves in the streets of these legendary thermal waters and wander through the picturesque medieval alleyways that wind between the baths, breathing in the most authentic essence of ancient Tbilisi.  

Anchiskhati

Anchiskhati Anchiskhati Basilica, the oldest church in Tbilisi, is a vital testimony to Georgia's Christian history since the 6th century. Located in the heart of the old city, this sandstone church, dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, owes its name to the miraculous icon of Christ (Anchiskhati) it housed for centuries. Its three-nave basilical architecture, typically Georgian, is complemented by medieval frescoes and a 17th-century bell tower. During our exploration, we will participate in the mystical atmosphere of the temple, listen to the ancient Georgian polyphonic chants that still resonate within its walls, and admire the craftsmanship of its traditional icons.  

Day 3 - Tbilisi - Alaverdi - Nekresi - Kvareli - Telavi

Alaverdi Monastery

Alaverdi Monastery Alaverdi Monastery, located in the Kakheti region of Georgia, is an impressive cathedral dating back to the 6th century. This historic site was founded by the monk Joseph of Alaverdi and in the 11th century became one of the tallest churches in Georgia with its magnificent dome. Surrounded by vineyards, the monastery is also famous for its winemaking tradition, which connects it deeply to the culture of the region. During our visit we will explore the majestic cathedral, learn about its rich history and enjoy the beauty of the vineyards surrounding this emblematic site in Kakheti. Nekresi Monastery

Nekresi Monastery Nekresi Monastery, located in the Kakheti region of Georgia, is an ancient monastic complex founded in the 4th century, making it one of the oldest Christian centres in the country. Perched on a hill overlooking the Alazani valley, Nekresi stands out for its small early Christian church, its rich history and its impressive natural surroundings. This monastery has been an important spiritual and cultural refuge over the centuries. During our visit we will explore its historic chapels, enjoy panoramic views of the valley and immerse ourselves in the tranquillity and history that surround this sacred place. Khareba Tunnel Winery

Khareba Tunnel Winery Located in the heart of the Kakheti region, Khareba Winery stands out for its extraordinary system of tunnels carved into the Caucasian mountain, stretching over 7.7 kilometres at a depth of 60 metres. Originally built during the Soviet era, this underground labyrinth maintains a constant natural temperature of 12–14°C, creating ideal conditions for wine ageing. The winery combines traditional Georgian winemaking methods in qvevri with modern technology, producing exceptional wines from native varieties such as Saperavi and Rkatsiteli. During our visit, we will walk through the mysterious tunnels with torches in hand, learn about 8,000 years of Georgian wine history and taste a select range of wines while enjoying the local gastronomy. Ananuri

Ananuri Ananuri, an impressive medieval fortress 66 kilometres from Tbilisi, rises majestically above the Zhinvali Reservoir on the historic Georgian Military Highway. This 13th-century architectural complex, which served as the seat of the Eristavi (dukes) of Aragvi, combines defensive elements with outstanding examples of Georgian religious architecture, its main church standing out for intricate stone reliefs and well-preserved frescoes. During our visit, we will explore the fortified towers, admire panoramic views of the turquoise reservoir and discover the secrets of medieval Georgian architecture while walking through its ancient cobbled courtyards.  

Gergeti Trinity Church

Gergeti Trinity Church Gergeti Trinity Church rises majestically at 2,170 metres altitude in the shadow of Mount Kazbek (5,047 m). This iconic 14th-century temple, situated in the historic Khevi region, is one of Georgia's most recognisable symbols, standing out for its remote location and traditional Georgian architecture against the backdrop of the snowy Caucasus mountains. During our excursion, we will drive up the winding mountain road in a 4x4, explore the ancient monastic complex and take in panoramic views of the surrounding glaciers and peaks.  

Day 5 - Gudauri - Uplistsikhe - Gori - Kutaisi

Uplistsikhe

Uplistsikhe Located in the Kartli region of central Georgia, Uplistsikhe is an ancient cave city carved in rock dating back to the first millennium BC. This extraordinary archaeological complex, considered one of the oldest settlements in the Caucasus, was an important religious and commercial centre on the historic Silk Road. Its architectural structures include pagan temples, Christian basilicas and civic buildings that reflect the unique fusion of Christian and pagan styles. The city stands out for its system of streets, secret tunnels and an exceptionally preserved Roman theatre. During our visit we will explore the ancient wine cellars, walk through stone-carved alleyways and marvel at the panoramic views of the Mtkvari river from the top of this natural acropolis, transporting us through more than 3,000 years of Caucasian history.  

Stalin Museum

Stalin Museum Stalin Museum in Gori, the birthplace of the controversial Soviet leader, is one of the last museums in the world dedicated to Josef Stalin. The complex includes the original birthplace, a Soviet-style palace building and Stalin's personal railway carriage. The exhibition houses an extensive collection of personal objects, photographs, historical documents and the original death mask of the dictator. During our visit, we will explore the rooms documenting Stalin's life from his youth in Georgia to his Soviet leadership, examine his luxurious armoured railway carriage and reflect on the complex historical legacy he left in the region.

Known for its colourful display of fresh fruit, aromatic spices and handmade products, this market reflects the rich gastronomic culture of the region. Beyond being a commercial hub, it offers visitors the opportunity to experience the hospitality and authenticity of local farmers. During our visit we will stroll through its lively stalls, taste fresh produce and discover the flavours that define traditional Georgian cuisine, while enjoying the bustling atmosphere of the market. Bagrati Cathedral

Bagrati Cathedral Dominating the skyline of Kutaisi from Ukimerioni Hill, the majestic Bagrati Cathedral is a masterpiece of medieval Georgian architecture and a symbol of the country's Golden Age. Built during the reign of King Bagrat III in the 11th century, this Orthodox church exemplifies the grandeur of the classic Georgian architectural style with its characteristic central dome and elaborate stone reliefs. Although partially reconstructed in 2012, it retains its significance as one of Georgia's most important monuments and was part of the UNESCO World Heritage List. During our visit, we will contemplate the spectacular panoramic views of Kutaisi from its terraces, admire the architectural details that fuse ancient and modern elements, and experience the serenity of this sacred space that has witnessed over a thousand years of history. Martvili Canyon

Martvili Canyon Martvili Canyon, located in the Samegrelo region of Georgia, is a natural wonder renowned for its turquoise waters and impressive waterfalls. This canyon, formed by thousands of years of erosion, offers a dreamlike setting surrounded by lush vegetation. Visitors can enjoy boat rides along the Abasha river, explore scenic paths and marvel at the unique rock formations and local legends associated with the place. During our visit we will glide through its crystal-clear waters, walk along nature-surrounded paths and enjoy the serenity and incomparable beauty of Martvili Canyon.

Day 8 - Kutaisi - Ushguli - Mestia

Ushguli

Ushguli Nestled at 2,200 metres above sea level, Ushguli stands as one of the highest permanently inhabited settlements in Europe, located in the remote Svaneti region of Georgia. This ensemble of medieval villages, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, captivates with its more than 20 12th-century stone defensive towers, characteristic symbols of Svan architecture that rise majestically against the backdrop of Mount Shkhara, Georgia's highest summit. The village preserves intact the traditions, language and customs of the ancient Svan culture, resisting the passage of time. During our exploration, we will stay in traditional local homes, hike to Shkhara glacier, photograph the impressive sunrise over the medieval towers and share unique moments with the inhabitants of this community that keeps the spirit of ancient Svaneti alive.  

Day 9 - Mestia - Chalaadi - Hatsvali - Mestia

Chalaadi Glacier

During our visit we will hike along the thrilling trail to the glacier, admire its ice formations and enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of this mountain paradise.  

Hatsvali

Hatsvali Hatsvali, located near Mestia in the Svaneti region of Georgia, is a modern mountain resort ideal for ski enthusiasts and outdoor activity lovers. Surrounded by the majestic mountains of the Greater Caucasus, Hatsvali offers well-maintained slopes, a panoramic cable car and spectacular views of Mount Ushba and its surroundings. Dadiani Palace

Built in the 19th century, this palace combines European and Georgian architectural elements. Today it houses the Museum of History and Architecture, which displays unique artefacts including the death mask of Napoleon Bonaparte. Surrounded by lush gardens, this site is a testimony to the cultural splendour of the region. During our visit we will walk through its elegant halls, explore its collection of art and historical artefacts and enjoy the gardens surrounding this imposing palace. Shekvetili Dendrological Park

Shekvetili Dendrological Park Shekvetili Dendrological Park, located on the Black Sea coast in the Guria region of Georgia, is one of the most innovative and modern botanical gardens in the Caucasus. This fascinating green space, opened in 2020, covers 60 hectares where more than 200 species of exotic plants are displayed across different microclimates and themed areas. The park stands out for its state-of-the-art tropical greenhouse, Japanese gardens and impressive collection of giant bamboo and palm trees. During our tour, we will marvel at the elevated walkways among the treetops, explore Georgia's largest hedge maze and enjoy panoramic views from the observation tower overlooking the entire botanical complex. Gonio Fortress

Gonio Fortress Gonio Fortress, located near the Black Sea coast, a few kilometres from Batumi in Georgia, is a historic monument of great relevance. Built in Roman times, this fortification dates from the 1st century AD and is considered one of the oldest archaeological sites in the country. Famous for its defensive design and connection to the Silk Road, Gonio also holds legends related to the tomb of the Apostle Matthias, making this place a blend of history and myth. During our visit we will walk along its ancient walls, explore the archaeological museum and discover the mysteries and legends surrounding this fascinating destination by the Black Sea.

Day 12 - Batumi - Winery - Borjomi - Akhaltsikhe

Baia's Wine Winery

Baia's Wine Winery In the heart of the Imereti wine region of Georgia, Baia's Wine Winery represents the perfect fusion between millennia-old tradition and modern winemaking. This family vineyard, run by the charismatic Baia Abuladze, has become a benchmark for natural wine production using the traditional Georgian method in qvevri (buried clay amphorae), a technique with 8,000 years of history recognised by UNESCO. Its organic vineyards cultivate native varieties such as Tsolikouri, Krakhuna and Tsitska on mineral-rich soils. During our experience, we will participate in an intimate tasting of its exceptional natural wines, learn about the ancestral winemaking process in qvevri and enjoy authentic Georgian hospitality accompanied by traditional dishes from Imereti.  

Borjomi

Borjomi Nestled in the picturesque Mtkvari valley in central Georgia, Borjomi is a legendary spa destination world-famous for its healing mineral waters, which spring naturally hot from the depths of Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park. This elegant resort town, which reached its peak during Russia's imperial era in the 19th century, preserves magnificent mansions of imperial architecture and extensive historic parks. Its mineral water, bottled since 1890, is considered a Georgian national treasure and has been prized for centuries for its medicinal properties. During our stay, we will stroll through the romantic Mineral Park, taste the thermal waters directly from the historic springs and explore the pristine trails of the national park, one of the largest in Europe.  

Day 13 - Akhaltsikhe - Vardzia - Khertvisi - Bavra - Gyumri

Vardzia

Vardzia Carved into the vertical wall of Mount Erusheli, Vardzia emerges as an impressive 12th-century rock monastery city, a symbol of the cultural peak of medieval Georgia during the reign of Queen Tamar. This monastic complex stretches along 500 metres and reaches up to 19 levels in height, housing more than 600 chambers including churches, wine cellars, libraries and an intricate system of tunnels and irrigation. The site stands out especially for the Church of the Dormition, which preserves exceptional 12th-century frescoes, including a famous portrait of Queen Tamar. During our exploration, we will walk through the secret tunnels and staircases that connect the different chambers, discover ancient wine cellars and marvel at the medieval frescoes that have survived earthquakes and centuries of history in this architectural gem carved in rock.

Walk around Gyumri

Walk around Gyumri Gyumri, Armenia's second-largest city, lies on the fertile plain of Shirak, standing out as a cultural and historical treasure that reflects the country's rich heritage. This ancient city, formerly known as Alexandropol and Leninakan, preserves an impressive collection of 19th-century architecture in its distinctive black tuff stone style, having survived devastating earthquakes that have marked its history. The historic centre, known as Kumayri, captivates with its cobblestone streets, stately buildings and the magnificent Church of the Holy Apostles. During our walk through its historic streets, we will explore the lively local markets, taste authentic Shirak cuisine in traditional restaurants and immerse ourselves in the vibrant artistic atmosphere that has made Gyumri the cultural centre of Armenia.

Dilijan

Dilijan Known as the "Little Switzerland of Armenia", Dilijan is a charming spa town located in the Tavush province of northern Armenia. Surrounded by the dense forested mountains of Dilijan National Park, covering more than 24,000 hectares of lush nature, this historic town is distinguished by its traditional Armenian architecture, with 19th-century wooden and stone houses adorning its winding streets. These carefully preserved buildings feature the characteristic carved balconies and ornamental windows that reflect the rich craft tradition of the region. The city has been for centuries an important cultural and healing centre, famous for its healing mineral waters and pure mountain air, attracting artists, composers and writers in search of inspiration. Dilijan's unique microclimate, characterised by cool summers and mild winters, together with its renowned mineral springs rich in bicarbonate and calcium, has made the city a favourite destination for health tourism since Soviet times. During our stay, we will stroll through the picturesque restored old town, where every corner tells a story of traditional Armenia, taste the famous local mineral waters at historic fountains and venture into the forest trails leading to ancient monasteries. The well-marked paths of the National Park offer routes for all levels, from gentle walks to challenging mountain hikes, allowing us to experience the perfect fusion of Armenian nature and culture. We will also have the opportunity to visit local craft workshops, where master craftsmen continue practising traditional techniques passed down through generations.

Echmiadzin

Echmiadzin Echmiadzin, known as the Holy See of the Armenian Apostolic Church, is one of Armenia's most sacred cities. Located in the Armavir region, it houses the Echmiadzin Cathedral, considered the oldest Christian church in the world, built in the 4th century. This important spiritual and cultural centre features impressive architecture and a rich heritage reflecting Armenia's deep Christian history. It is a must-visit destination for history and religion enthusiasts. During our visit, we will explore the majestic cathedral, discover religious treasures and immerse ourselves in the sacred atmosphere of this unique place.  

Zvartnots Temple

Zvartnots Temple Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the majestic Zvartnots Temple was built in the 7th century near Echmiadzin, Armenia, representing the pinnacle of medieval Armenian architecture. This unique monument, whose name means "Temple of the Watchful Angels", stood out for its innovative three-level circular design reaching 45 metres in height, setting new architectural standards of its time. Although now in ruins after its collapse in the 10th century due to an earthquake, its imposing remains, finely carved capitals and pioneering use of arches and vaults demonstrate the sophistication of ancient Armenia. During our exploration, we will walk among the massive columns that once supported this architectural marvel, admire the delicate vine and pomegranate reliefs, and be transported to the splendour of the ancient Kingdom of Armenia as Mount Ararat appears on the horizon.

Noravank Monastery
