This is a 10-day journey through the majestic landscapes and rich history of the Caucasus, exploring the wonders of Georgia and Armenia. This itinerary has been designed to offer you an immersive experience combining vibrant cities, ancient monasteries, and dreamy natural scenery. From the charming capital of Tbilisi to the historic Yerevan, each day will bring you closer to the culture, traditions, and hospitality of this unique region. You will also enjoy guided tours that allow you to discover the secrets and essence of each place. Get ready for an unforgettable journey full of surprises and emotions!

The itinerary begins in historic Tbilisi, where you will wander through its narrow streets and most iconic landmarks. You will venture into the Alazani Valley visiting monasteries such as Alaverdi and Nekresi, followed by a stop in Telavi, the cradle of Georgian wine. You will enjoy the views of the Gergeti Trinity Church, nestled in the Caucasus mountains, and explore cave cities such as Uplistsikhe. In Armenia, you will be captivated by architectural treasures such as the Geghard Monastery and the Echmiadzin Cathedral, as well as landscapes like the serene Lake Sevan and the forests of Dilijan. Each day combines adventure, history and nature, ensuring unique moments that will be forever etched in your memory.

Itinerario

Day 1 - Transfer from Tbilisi Airport to the capital

Day 2 - Tbilisi - Guided city tour

Rustaveli Avenue

Rustaveli Avenue Rustaveli Avenue, the main thoroughfare of Tbilisi, stretches 1.5 kilometres from Freedom Square to Republic Square. This iconic street, named after the medieval poet Shota Rustaveli, is home to the city's most prestigious buildings, including the Parliament of Georgia, the Opera House and the National Museum, all built in neoclassical and Art Nouveau style during the 19th century. During our stroll, we will enjoy the vibrant Georgian cultural life, stop at its elegant historic cafés and admire the monumental architecture while exploring the many shops and art galleries.

Metekhi Square

Metekhi Square Metekhi Square, one of the most historic landmarks of Tbilisi, stands on a cliff with privileged views of the Mtkvari River. This landmark is dominated by the 13th-century church and the equestrian statue of King Vakhtang Gorgasali, the legendary founder of the city. The square was for centuries the home of the royal palace, consolidating itself as a strategic and cultural centre. Although the original church was built in the 5th century, the structure we can admire today is a 13th-century reconstruction. During our tour, we will delight in the impressive panoramic views of the old town and the famous baths district, explore the Metekhi Church and immerse ourselves in the fascinating history of the king who, with his vision, established Tbilisi as the capital of Georgia.

Narikala Fortress

Narikala Fortress Narikala Fortress, the iconic symbol of Tbilisi, has dominated the city's skyline since the 4th century. This ancient citadel, originally Persian and later expanded by Arabs and Georgians, rises on a steep hill overlooking the Mtkvari River and the old town. Its imposing walls and towers have witnessed the various civilisations that have ruled Georgia, including the reconstructed Church of St Nicholas from the 12th century. During our visit, we will ride the cable car up to the fortress, walk along its ancient defensive walls and capture breathtaking panoramic views of Tbilisi as the sun sets over the city.

Abanotubani

Abanotubani Abanotubani, the historic sulphur baths district in the heart of old Tbilisi, represents the original core where the Georgian capital was founded. Located on the right bank of the Mtkvari River, this neighbourhood is famous for its characteristic sulphur baths with brick domes emerging from the ground, bearing witness to over 1,500 years of history. The natural thermal springs that bubble up from the earth maintain a constant temperature of 37–40°C, and their healing properties have attracted illustrious visitors such as Alexander Pushkin and Alexandre Dumas. During our visit, we will immerse ourselves in the lanes of these legendary thermal waters and lose ourselves among the picturesque medieval alleyways that wind between the baths, breathing the most authentic spirit of ancient Tbilisi.  

Anchiskhati

Anchiskhati The Anchiskhati Basilica, the oldest church in Tbilisi, stands as a vital testament to Georgia's Christian history since the 6th century. Located in the heart of the old town, this sandstone church dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary takes its name from the miraculous icon of Christ (Anchiskhati) it housed for centuries. Its three-nave basilica architecture, typically Georgian, is complemented by medieval frescoes and a 17th-century bell tower. During our exploration, we will take part in the mystical atmosphere of the temple, listen to the ancient Georgian polyphonic chanting that still resonates within its walls and admire the craftsmanship of its traditional icons.  

Day 3 - Tbilisi - Alaverdi - Nekresi - Kvareli - Telavi

Alaverdi Monastery

Alaverdi Monastery Alaverdi Monastery, located in the Kakheti region of Georgia, is an impressive cathedral dating from the 6th century. This historic site was founded by the monk Joseph of Alaverdi and, in the 11th century, became one of the tallest churches in Georgia with its magnificent dome. Surrounded by vineyards, the monastery is also famous for its winemaking tradition, which deeply connects it to the culture of the region. During our visit we will explore the majestic cathedral, learn about its rich history and enjoy the beauty of the vineyards surrounding this emblematic place in Kakheti. Nekresi Monastery

Nekresi Monastery Nekresi Monastery, located in the Kakheti region of Georgia, is an ancient monastic complex founded in the 4th century, making it one of the oldest Christian centres in the country. Situated on a hill overlooking the Alazani Valley, Nekresi is distinguished by its small early Christian church, its rich history and its impressive natural surroundings. This monastery has been an important spiritual and cultural refuge throughout the centuries. During our visit we will explore its historic chapels, enjoy panoramic views of the valley and immerse ourselves in the tranquillity and history that envelop this sacred place. Khareba Winery in the Tunnel

Khareba Winery in the Tunnel Nestled in the heart of the Kakheti region, Khareba Winery is renowned for its extraordinary tunnel system carved into the Caucasian mountain, stretching over 7.7 kilometres at a depth of 60 metres. Originally built during the Soviet era, this underground labyrinth maintains a constant natural temperature of 12–14°C, creating ideal conditions for wine ageing. The winery combines traditional Georgian vinification methods in qvevri with modern technology, producing exceptional wines from indigenous grape varieties such as Saperavi and Rkatsiteli. During our visit, we will explore the mysterious tunnels by torchlight, learn about Georgia's 8,000 years of wine history and taste a select range of wines while enjoying the local gastronomy. Day 4 - Telavi - Ananuri - Gergeti - Gudauri

Ananuri

Ananuri Ananuri, an impressive medieval fortress located 66 kilometres from Tbilisi, rises majestically above the Zhinvali Reservoir on the historic Georgian Military Highway. This 13th-century architectural complex, which served as the seat of the eristavi (dukes) of Aragvi, combines defensive elements with extraordinary examples of Georgian religious architecture, with its main church featuring intricate stone reliefs and well-preserved frescoes. During our visit, we will explore the fortified towers, admire panoramic views of the turquoise reservoir and discover the secrets of medieval Georgian architecture as we stroll through its ancient cobbled courtyards.  

Gergeti Trinity Church

Gergeti Trinity Church The Gergeti Trinity Church stands majestically at 2,170 metres in the shadow of Mount Kazbegi (5,047m). This iconic 14th-century church, located in the historic region of Khevi, is one of the most recognisable symbols of Georgia, standing out for its remote location and traditional Georgian architecture against the backdrop of the snow-capped Caucasus mountains. During our excursion, we will drive up the winding mountain road in a 4x4, explore the ancient monastic complex and take in panoramic views of the surrounding glaciers and peaks.  

Day 5 - Gudauri - Gori - Uplistsikhe - Akhaltsikhe

Stalin Museum

Stalin Museum The Stalin Museum in Gori, birthplace of the controversial Soviet leader, is one of the last museums in the world dedicated to Josef Stalin. The complex includes the original birthplace house, a building in Soviet palace style and Stalin's personal railway carriage. The exhibition holds an extensive collection of personal objects, photographs, historical documents and the original death mask of the dictator. During our visit, we will explore the halls documenting Stalin's life from his youth in Georgia to his Soviet leadership, examine his luxurious armoured railway carriage and reflect on the complex historical legacy he left in the region.  

Uplistsikhe

Uplistsikhe Located in the Kartli region of central Georgia, Uplistsikhe is an ancient cave city carved into rock dating from the first millennium BC. This extraordinary archaeological complex, considered one of the oldest settlements in the Caucasus, was an important religious and commercial centre on the historic Silk Road. Its architectural structures include pagan temples, Christian basilicas and civic buildings reflecting the unique fusion of Christian and pagan styles. The city is notable for its street system, secret tunnels and an exceptionally well-preserved Roman-style theatre. During our visit we will explore the ancient wine cellars, walk through streets carved in stone and marvel at the panoramic views of the Mtkvari River from the top of this natural acropolis, transporting us through more than 3,000 years of Caucasian history.  

Day 6 - Akhaltsikhe - Vardzia - Khertvisi - Bavra - Gyumri

Vardzia

Vardzia Carved into the vertical face of Mount Erusheli, Vardzia emerges as an impressive 12th-century cave monastery city, symbol of the cultural zenith of medieval Georgia during the reign of Queen Tamar. This monastic complex extends for 500 metres and reaches up to 19 levels in height, housing more than 600 rooms including churches, wine cellars, libraries and an intricate system of tunnels and irrigation. The site is especially notable for the Church of the Dormition, which preserves exceptional 12th-century frescoes, including a famous portrait of Queen Tamar. During our exploration, we will traverse the tunnels and secret staircases connecting the different chambers, discover ancient wine cellars and marvel at the medieval frescoes that have survived earthquakes and centuries of history in this architectural gem carved into the rock.

Day 7 - Gyumri - Echmiadzin - Cathedral - St. Gayane - St. Hripsime - Yerevan

Echmiadzin

Located in the Armavir region, it is home to the Echmiadzin Cathedral, considered the oldest Christian church in the world, built in the 4th century. This important spiritual and cultural centre boasts impressive architecture and a rich heritage, reflecting the deep Christian history of Armenia. It is an essential destination for lovers of history and religion. Church of St. Gayane

  The Church of St. Gayane, situated in the city of Echmiadzin, Armenia, is a magnificent example of classical Armenian architecture. Built in 630 AD and designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this church is dedicated to St. Gayane, a Christian martyr who played a fundamental role in Armenia's adoption of Christianity. Its harmonious design, with a central dome and delicate stone details, reflects centuries of spirituality and religious art. Hripsime

Garni

Garni Garni, located in the Kotayk region of Armenia, is an emblematic destination known for its 1st-century pagan temple, unique in the South Caucasus. Geghard Geghard, located in the Kotayk region of Armenia, is a medieval monastery designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its name, meaning ""monastery of the spear"", relates to the relic said to have pierced the side of Christ. Surrounded by mountain scenery and a mystical atmosphere, Geghard is a symbol of Armenian spirituality. During our visit we will walk through its rock-hewn chapels, admire the intricate carvings and enjoy the serenity of the surroundings while discovering its profound history and significance. Dilijan

Dilijan Known as the ""Little Switzerland of Armenia"", Dilijan is a charming spa town situated in the Tavush province in northern Armenia. Surrounded by the dense forested mountains of Dilijan National Park, which covers more than 24,000 hectares of lush nature, this historic town is distinguished by its traditional Armenian architecture, with 19th-century wooden and stone houses lining its winding streets. These carefully preserved buildings display the characteristic carved balconies and ornate windows that reflect the region's rich craft tradition. The town has been for centuries an important cultural and healing centre, famous for its curative mineral waters and its pure mountain air, attracting artists, composers and writers in search of inspiration. The unique microclimate of Dilijan, characterised by cool summers and mild winters, together with its renowned bicarbonate- and calcium-rich mineral springs, has made the town a favourite destination for health tourism since the Soviet era. During our stay, we will stroll through the picturesque restored old town, where every corner tells a story of traditional Armenia, taste the famous local mineral waters at historic fountains and explore the forest trails leading to centuries-old monasteries. The well-marked paths of the National Park offer routes for all levels, from gentle walks to challenging mountain hikes, allowing us to experience the perfect fusion of nature and Armenian culture. We will also have the opportunity to visit local craft workshops, where master craftspeople continue to practise traditional techniques passed down through generations.
